She could not believe it, and her eyes widened at the doctor, as if she could not understand what the doctor had just said. There was no sense of truth. Her dry, petal-like lips twitched and she wanted to say something, but the effect of the anesthesia gradually developed, and soon, she fell into darkness.
When she woke up, she saw the white ceiling of the ward and the glass hanging bottle.
Madam Xia was holding her hand and sitting beside the bed, a hint of a dark green shadow at the bottom of her eyes.
Xia Ling called out, "Mom." Her voice was so hoarse and weak that it was almost inaudible.
Madam Xia heard it, however. She looked up and, seeing that she had woken up, showed her a tired yet joyful smile. "Xiao Ling, you've woken up? It's a relief that you're fine, I'll call the doctor to check on you."
She said, reaching out and pressing the call bell on the bedpost.
