Chapter 25 - Fate brought her back to him

He wanted to do more, to kiss her harder and to kiss her everywhere. But he fear that the moment he gives in, he would lose all control.

He had promised her mother that he would not do anything to her tonight and he intended to keep that promise.

After much difficulties, he pushed himself away from her and lie back down. The one small act of restraint basically took all his energy and he beckoned for her to lie closer to him and of which she complied with without any resistance.

With her head on his arm, and her hand rested on his perfectly sculpted chest, the two of them just lay there, not really doing anything in particular other than enjoying the clear breeze of the wind serenaded by the hymn of the waves.

When she finally fell into an alcohol induced slumber, he signaled Han Ye to bring his jacket over. Since his arm was being used as a pillow, and he absolutely refused to wake her up, he can only use Han Ye's jacket albeit with much reluctance.

As Han Ye watched the man covering his woman, he felt the cold air emitting from his back.

He was worried that the President will secretly kill him until he saw the future Madam President frowning and wiggling as she tried to unconsciously bat the unfamiliar jacket and scent away.

DX chuckled but still remain firm as he covered her exposed legs with it.

"It's cold! Be good!" He stated firmly as he held her legs tightly to stop them from kicking the jacket away.

She growled in her sleep but then went back to her deep sleep as the man watched on fondly.

"At least she recognized my scent…" He thought to himself proudly and waved his gawking assistant away. After Han Ye left the scene, the man hummed "Can't help falling in love" softly.

He thought back to that day 6 years ago, when he had first met her on Charles Bridge, Prague.

At that time, he was with his latest fiancee - courtesy of his mother - and that woman had been irritating him throughout the day and she kept trying to touch him.

He finally had enough and asked to be excused as he stepped outside for a smoke. Han Ye, as usual, followed behind him closely.

The two men strolled on the romantic Charles Bridge.

If it was not because of the coldness in his eyes whenever he spoke to his assistant, people would have thought that they are lovers, what with Han Ye followed behind him so closely.

Just as DX had enough of the noise and people, his gaze landed on a young woman with red scarves. Amidst the happy tourists and the loving lovers wandering around, there she was, standing by herself, overlooking the Vlatava River with tears welling up in her eyes.

With her long wavy hair flying behind her, buoyed by the gentle summer wind, he can see a haunting look in her eyes.

He watched as she muttered something to herself, the hand by her side balled into a fist as the other hand covered her eyes.

When she removed her hand, her eyes were clear and filled with determination, as if life was once again returned to her.

"Interesting…" DX thought to himself. He felt a strange pull, an inexplicable attraction towards this strange woman. The unfamiliar emotion that was rising within him made him slightly uncomfortable.

"What are you looking at, President Du?" Han Ye asked, curious as to what stopped the imposing man in his strides. He had noticed that he was looking at the lady standing 5 feet away from them but doubt that she could be the reason.

"Do you think that it is normal for me to feel like making her cry?" DX asked his assistant, his eyes still on the woman, unclear of what he was feeling at this moment.

"What?" Han Ye gasped. He shook his head vigorously as he thought, "No way! The President actually paid attention to a woman?!"

"I bet she would be really adorable when she cries." DX added on as he watched the woman walked away, disappearing into the crowd. He quickly gave chase but he lost her.

He had told Han Ye to find everything about the woman, but without any lead or photo to begin with, they were unable to find anything. Just as he was about to give up of ever meeting her again, their path crossed, only this time, it was in a law firm in their own country.

As he gazed at the sleeping figure next to him, he swore to himself that he would never let her go again. Fate brought her back to him, and he intends to do everything to keep her by his side.

"DX…" She mumbled in her sleep as she snuggled closer to him.

"Yes?" He answered softly while gently caressed her face with his knuckles, "I'm here."

"If you have known what I did, you would have been disgusted with me…"

He realized that she was sleep talking. Pulling her tighter into his embrace, he gently brushed her cheeks and said, "Never…"

And he was sure of that.
