Chapter 28 - Phenomenon Of The Neglected Number

Toyama looked at him before nodding his head returning his look to Kikune who was still complaining.

"Since you are here, why don't we listen to the opinion of the otehr teacher whom she was skipping class as well?" Toyama said before all of them returned their attention to Daiki.

He already looked at them before sighing.

He brought out a paper and placed it in front of Toyama.

"What is this?" Toyama asked.

"That girl never truly entered my class and we had an exam today. I purposefully had a different set of questions for her. Those are lessons that are not yet covered."

Toyama furrowed his brows but still looked at the paper, to his amazement, it has a perfect score.

Kikune looked at it as well together with the others. They was stunned at the score of someone who never entered class but was able to get a perfect score.

"She could have just read in advance," Kikune scoffed feeling that Daiki must be helping Astra.

Daiki scoffed in return, "Read in advance? Why? Just how many history books does the second years and third years have?"

Everyone turned their eyes at Daiki.

"Second years and third years?" Toyama asked in confusion.

"Yes, sir. Her questions were compiled from lessons of second years and third years. I too tried to discipline her but I guess she really didn't need to enter my class, looking at this score."

"History is history, training is training. She must have been well versed with history that she can just skip it. But training is different, how can she become stronger if she were to skip it?"

Kikune didn't want to back down as she still pushed through with her reasoning.

Daiki shakes his head before keeping quiet.

He was once a student of this school together with Kikune and a few others. They were worshipping him back then but after he lost his identity as a player. They all acted as if he has some sickness avoiding him while looking down at him.

He didn't care, it was his decision after all.

But his condition was also the rwason why he became the history teacher. He wanted to know why this had happen. He wanted to find out about the people who ended like him.

What did they experience? What else happened?

He wanted to know if there is other facts about what he currently is experiencing, his eyes that could see the real strength and abilities of a player.

That was what he did to Astra a while ago.

He sneered in his mind towards these people.

'No wonder Kikune was drained, if she used her water ability in fighting against the fire that Kikune released then she would be left unscathed.'

He started analyzing what Astra did.

'And since she was unscathed, Kikune who wants to harm her would increase the fire she is using. As she do this multiple times, her opponent who is far stronger than her was just playing around with her.'

He's starting to like that ditcher more and more.

"Miss Kikune I think you are forgetting something here," Toyama finally sighed upon hearing the stupid reasoning from Kikune.

"What is it sir?" Kikune asked.

"You have harmed a student."

The whole place turned silent and the temperature obviously dropped.

Toyama was also a three numbered player and his numbers are one Jack and two Queens. Spade, Diamond and Clover, respectively.

The pressure he emits were something Kikune, who was just in Ten, wouldn't be able to handle.

"I... But she..." Kikune started sweating.

She came here to complain but she had forgotten one rule that teachers must abide.

Never to harm the students no matter how small.

"No matter how disrespectful, you have to discipline them accordingly."

Toyama looked at her with indifferent eyes, which scared her even more.

"Have you also forgotten that it was the president who wanted to nurture her because of the specialness of her abilities? Not me alone?" he added which shut all the teachers up.

They came here to complain to him about the student but in the end they were the ones being reprimanded.

"History is history, training is training. But I know that student had been excelling on both. Her being able to finish her run even though you hindered her was more than enough proof to show you that she really does not need it."

Toyama had been listening to complaints from these peopel about the special student and now he had enough.

Especially since they dare act arrogant towards Daiki right in front of him.

Daiki was his student, he was his pride and him becoming a history teacher. Toyama knew that it was because he wants to research about the phenomenon of the neglected number.

Number 2.

Him always being sleepy, Toyama knew that it was because his brain cells would work better during the night. And he is more efficient during that time.

So for someone trying to improve their knowledge to be looked down upon by these people who only knew how t be arrogant and complain.

Toyama was being biased and showed anger towards them.

And before Kikune could defend herself Toyama once again opened his mouth.

"That student is special, she never showed any arrogance and was living her school life as quiet as possible. She skips yes, but she can skip because she has the capability. I advice you to stop this, I hear that you harm her or more students again. I will make sure that your job here is gone."

Seeing as the talk was over and they were the ones being reprimanded, the teachers could only leave the principals office dejectedly and unresolved. Especially for Kikune who still could not accept Astra's presence in the top class.

"What do you think?" Toyama asked Daiki once only the two of them are left.

"About?"

"Astra. How she did it?"

"I think, using her water ability's specialness, she was able to contend with miss Kikune's fire. Seeing her left unharmed by her fire, miss Kikune increased the energy she spent ending with her increasing and increasing and increasing," Daiki answered using Astra's specialness and not what he learned just now.

About her being far stronger than even most of teh teachers.

She was young and he has no idea how come that happened, but he still has his respect over her decision.

In the end, she never harmed anyone and kept a low profile. It was only those people who wants to harm her that she could only fight back.

"Kikune increases her usage while all Astra had to do was cover her legs with thin wall of water for she only needs to jump. Meaning Astra barely increased hers using smaller amount of energy," Toyama nodded his head as he concluded what Daiki has said.

"Truly special," he added as he leaned back on his chair.

"As for your history class, she really is well versed in history if she got perfect on an exam that has second year and third year's lessons," he looked at Daiki and commented.

She was a diamond in a rough.

Seeing his look, Daiki knew what he was thinking.

He chuckled, "Too bad. The student doesn't seem like someone who would want to enter such competitions."

Inter school competition was held every last three months of the school semester and those chosen to compete were given the privelege of passing their school year despite their standing in classes.

It was competition between different schools held entirely at the central land.

"Hey you can never tell. It is still too early to say that," Toyama rebuked.

Daiki just shrugged, the way that one acts. Daiki could see that she was here on a whim and someone must have just influenced her.

'Could be those guys whom she hangs around with,' he thought remembering that Kaito was with ehr yesterday in ditching his class.

"Anyway, there are still the other students and the third years. There are still a lot of choices, we're only gonna be certain when the time arrives. It is still quite far," Daiki answered before waving him goodbye and leaving his office.
