For the next two days, Purple and Melissa tried to keep their conversations to a minimum. They had tried to ignore each other for a while, but perhaps because they had been locked up for too long with no contact from the outside world, they could no longer keep pretending that the other person did not exist.
Hence, they would strike up conversations when they were sure that they were alone or late at night when most people were asleep. The guards at the door would simply keep watch over them but wouldn't go in to bother them.
On Sunday evening, Purple stared at her plate of food helplessly. "Do you think we are being poisoned?"
Melissa waved her chained hands in defeat. "Do you even need to ask?"
