Chapter 36 - Pie from the sky

Cedric's eyes went wide at the same time that he sat upright from his reclined posture, his muscles stiffening. "What did you just say?"

"I found that her address is The Mansion of Black, the residence of La Rose Noire."

Cedric's facial features contorted into a frown, his head tilted in shock and surprise. That girl was a member of La Rose Noire? But that didn't make any sense. People from La Rose Noire were good fighters – fatal even. They were ruthless and could supposedly maim and kill without batting an eyelid. This alone was enough for him to bark out a brief laugh. If that little bunny was a member of La Rose Noire, then there was something wrong with the queen.

Of course, he knew fully well who the queen of La Rose Noire was. That was why it was surprising. What a coincidence that the new bunny he was planning to teach a lesson just happened to be that crazy woman's underling!

"Investigate this properly. Find out everything – when she joined La Rose Noire, how long she has been there and her relationship with everyone else in the same organization."

"Yes boss." The bodyguard took up his new task immediately.

Thanks to Purple's interruption and the news that had popped up as a result of it, Cedric cancelled his flight to Rome. His interest had been piqued by something else so he went to Singles Club – where he had been spending most of his time and money lately.

He had needles in his pants until his bodyguard returned with the results of his investigation.

"Elena Garcia is indeed a member of La Rose Noire. She has been a member since April this year." The bodyguard reported, also surprised that such a twist could exist in real life. "Although she has only been there for two months, she has already obtained a Gold-rank in combat."

The more information was divulged, the more contorted Cedric's face became. That little bunny was such a good fighter?

According to the many rumors about La Rose Noire, all the members were ranked in order of their abilities in assassination, smuggling, swindling and whatever else it was that La Rose Noire did. Combat was the most important. That little girl was so good? How was it possible?

After pacing in the red-themed VIP room for a while, he suddenly stopped as though thinking of something and barked out a brief laugh.

Like a lunatic, he flopped onto the soft couch and ran a hand through his spiky blond hair. He ignored his bodyguard and gleefully poured himself a glass of wine, drinking all of it in a huge swig, then letting out a satisfied 'ah' when the wine soothed his throat.

"This is a pie from the sky." He nursed the stem of the wineglass with a smug grin, gloatingly flaunting to no one in particular. The bodyguard was used to his boss' momentary insanity, so he remained silent, making his presence as scarce as possible.

Cedric poured more wine into the glass. "Such a huge pie has fallen from the sky. Who would blame me for picking it up?" He patted his chest, feeling the locket that lay directly caressing his chest – his sister had gifted it to him years ago. Patting it as though it brought her back to him, he declared, "Cece, I was definitely not going to let that woman off. I was going to avenge you."

He paused, as though waiting for her to say something in response even though he knew she would say nothing.

"Look, Cece. The heavens just granted me a chance to do that. Are you happy?" After another pause, he laughed like a maniac and finally spoke to his bodyguard. "Go and make arrangements. Wherever that Elena Garcia is, I will be there. Whatever she is doing in private, let me know. Also, investigate her family. He background, her friends if any, basically every little thing – even if it only matters as much as a fart."

"Yes boss."

Yes, he was going to use Elena Garcia. It was not easy to get such an opportunity.

It was easier to fly to the sky than to get someone to infiltrate La Rose Noire. Shera usually sought out the members on her own and recruited them for different reasons. It was also not easy to gain her attention. He needed to know why Elena Garcia was chosen. Once he did, he would be the hero that saves the belle and promise to help her leave peacefully. He would make her fall in love with him. He would coax her to tell him everything she knew about the organization and its psycho queen.

It would be even better if she helped him get closer to someone of a higher rank – someone closer to Shera Black. Then he would have a way to destroy that woman.

Once he finished dealing with that woman, Elena Garcia's role would be complete. Then he would discard her.

Of course he would get rid of her. Who would want to keep an underling of the woman he hated the most?

"Tsk, Elena Garcia, what a beautiful name! Thank you for appearing in my life." Cedric raised his glass to the air, toasting to Elena Garcia, his sister or whatever ghost or demon he was toasting to.
