Chapter 50 - Worthless

"It's not that easy to kill a villain, Purple." Shera's expression gradually turned into a mocking, frosty glance. "Did you really think that the glass you picked from the cellar is the same one you poisoned?"

Purple froze. She had found out…

She had found out so long ago that she had even swapped the wineglass…

But she should have expected it. How could she have thought that it would be so easy to assassinate the demoness? She was the queen of La Rose Noire. Just how many enemies did she have? There was probably someone trying to assassinate her every other day. If murdering her was as easy as poisoning a glass, she would be dead ages ago.

"You have sown your wind, now it's time to reap the whirlwind." Shera's voice brought her back from her thoughts. "How do you want me to punish you?"

Purple's nails dug into her palms. She should have thought of what would happen if her plan failed. She had stopped at the last moment, alright, but that didn't mean Shera would be lenient.

Her heart raced as she squeezed her eyes shut to imagine just what kind of ending she would have. Would she make her drink her own poison, drown her or shoot her brains out? No matter what it was, she deserved it.

"Master, before you punish me, could you please give me some time?" She pleaded with her hands together against her face.

Shera scrutinized her for a moment before raising two fingers in front of her face.

"T-two days?" Purple stammered.

 "Two hours." Shera's lips twitched.

"Thank you." Purple did not complain that it was too little, dashing off instead.

"Why are you here?" Shera asked Tazja after Purple left. The little pet had just appeared and was trying not to distract her but Shera had felt its presence.

[Oh, you noticed me! I was just watching the show.] Tazja did a bow to which Shera smirked and ignored it. [But master, I really can't understand you despite being in your brain. Why would you let her go? Aren't you afraid she will run away?]

Shera reclined back on her bed leisurely. Like anyone could run away from La Rose Noire.

Undeniably, running away had crossed Purple's thoughts. But then, it would be of no use. Shera Black would certainly hunt her down.

She glanced at the clock in her room. She had one hour and fifty minutes left. She took her phone but just before she dialled it, someone knocked on her door. She went to open it and was irritated to see Ash.

"Twelfth miss, I came to…"

"I know. Later." Purple shut the door in her face. She had come so Purple would hand over the mission and tell her everything she needed to know. After shutting Ash out, she went ahead to give Cedric a call.

"It's important. Let's meet up right now."

Before Cedric could say a word, she hung up just like he usually did to her. She changed her clothes at a record speed. Grabbing her bag, she left the Mansion of Black.

_

Purple and Cedric met up in Singles Bar. This time, they chose an enclosed VIP room.

"What's going on?" Cedric was impatient and asked as soon as he saw her.

Purple jumped into his arms, sobbing. "I killed her."

"You—what?" Cedric was astonished. From her call, he had expected bad news. But it was good news instead?

"I… I commited murder, Cedric." Purple cried, chocking on her sobs. "Am I going to go to jail? I…"

"Hush… don't be scared." He caressed her hair. "No one will put you in jail. I will not let that happen."

Even though that was what he said, his expression turned frosty when she couldn't see it. It was about time to get rid of her.

Purple embraced his body like a frightened child and discreetly peeked at the watch on her hand. She had just a little over one hour now. She pulled out of his embrace, pulled a syringe from her purse and pierced it into his neck all in thirty seconds.

"What are you…" before Cedric could react, she had pulled out the syringe and was some distance away from him.

"How dare you! What did you inject me with?" He reached at the back of his pants then froze.

"Looking for this?" Purple twirled a gun in front of him.

Cedric's face paled. How did she get that from him? "Elena! This is no joke."

"Oh? But that's not me." Purple taunted as she shoved the gun into her bag. She circled Cedric teasingly and stopped behind him to whisper in his ear, "Elena Garcia does not exist."

Cedric felt his breathing quicken but he knew it had nothing to do with Purple's proximity. "Who are you?" He hissed.

"It doesn't matter. What different would it make to a dying man?" She continued circling him, stopping when Cedric gripped his chest and let out a groan of pain. She frowned in displeasure. "What a coward, tsk. Just one stab of pain and you're yelling around like a kid? How will you survive then, for the next five days?"

"You poisoned me." Cedric said in certainty. "How could you do this? We love each other, Ellie."

Purple rolled her eyes as a response. "Love does not exist." Or she wouldn't have reached this point.

"Let's not waste each other's time, Cedric Qin." Purple took out a small bottle from her bag, along with documents. She slapped the documents onto the chair, beside him. "I will give you the antidote if you sign this. And we can forget this ever happened."

"Never." Cedric spat without even checking the content, earning a kick in the guts.

Purple dragged her feet into the Mansion of Black when she had just twenty minutes left. She had wasted twenty minutes just battling with Cedric Qin.

She had to give him a good beating before the man finally signed the papers. Obviously, the antidote was fake. There was no way she was going to save a Qin.

Letting out a sigh, she slipped into Shera's room. The latter was still awake and waiting.

"Your time is almost up." Shera said when Purple came in.

Purple walked to Shera without raising her head, then took out the document from her bag. "I completed the mission. I also got Cedric to sign this."

Shera took the papers and read through them. Cedric Qin had just transfered all his shares in The Qin Empire to her—Shera Black. Her lips twitched, not revealing any hint of pleasure. "If you are trying to buy your life, then you must despise yourself a lot."

Purple looked up in shock and Shera continued. "I have no use for worthless things and that is why I discard them."

She stood up and looked Purple up and down. "And you, Purple, are worthless."
