"Why isn't mommy answering the phone?" Lola wondered aloud. She had called her mother's number several times but no one picked it.
"Maybe I got some digits wrong?" She frowned and ran to check her diary. The digits were all correct. Why then was Amanda not picking her phone? She kept calling incessantly and just when she was about to stop, the call finally connected. She exhaled a huge sigh of relief. "Mommy! You finally picked up. Mia and I…"
"Are you related to Amanda Caron?" A strange female voice asked.
Lola was confused for a while before answering, "Yes, I'm her daughter. Who are you and why do you have my mommy's phone?"
"Where is your daddy? Could you bring him to the phone?" The other woman asked.
Lola frowned and wondered who she was and what she meant by asking about her father. "I don't know. Daddy left."
"Uhm…" the call ended.
