Chapter 5 - Puppy Love

Meilin woke up, her body aching as she tried to get up and remember at least a thing or two from the night before.

Haru walked in slowly, his eyes darting to every corner of the room before It finally settled on her "Morning Mrs Luan"

Meilin wanted to respond but she restrained herself from talking to him, she had to.

"I understand your reason for the way you're treating me. Here's your medicine, the doctor prescribed it" he placed a few tablets on the desk by the bedside and turned to leave. "I'll try my best to stay away."

His colds words left her heart aching as unwanted tears formed at her ducts and she was left to ponder about her life.

She finally got up, had a bath, put on available clothes and went her way. She was really sad about everything, she was hurting him but she didn't have a choice.

Being in a relationship with him would only yield negative result and also spoil his image. What would society think when the news headlines focus on Haru's relationship with a married woman?

Everything was for his own benefit even if it was tearing them apart.

Haru was far from being happy. He didn't like the way things were going. Her words from the past night weren't true, there was no way she'd love him and play with his emotions wrongly. He's tried so hard to prove his love but she won't even give him a chance and she made him feel like he was wrong.

Maybe he was wrong. Maybe he shouldn't have invited her to his home. Maybe he shouldn't have calmed her down in the elevator. Maybe just Maybe.

Weeks passed and It was finally Time to Celebrate 100years of the Yang's Clan business.

It was custom to celebrate success in his family. His relations would be coming to celebrate with him and it was compulsory for employees to attend.

Meilin was having problems picking out clothes to wear. She sold most of her valuable clothes and jewelries and was left with nothing but her worn out dresses.

She tried each and everyone of them on but they all looked dull. She just had to wear a brown dress and put on the only pair of black shoes she had available.

She didn't have cosmetics to make her a little pretty because the stress was having a big toll on her appearance. She concluded that she'd be the worst dressed and was bound to make a fool out of herself.

She took public transport to the venue since the taxis were still available as long as it doesn't exceed seven.

The building was large and the music was being played by an orchestra. Men and women of different status were there and also Some of her colleagues she saw once or twice at work.

She was sure she was odd, her presence wasn't needed to begin with neither did she want to be there.

She spotted Haru from the distance. He was looking gorgeous as usual. But he dyed his hair brown and restyled it. His white suit was dazzling and it matched his beautiful smile.

She was hypnotized once again by his good looks but she snapped out of her brief hypnosis when she noticed he was coming her way.

Her face was flushed and her body heated up. She was calculating on the words she'd use because he was closing in on her and fast.

"Haru—"

He walked pass her even after she called his name. Her heart ached badly, he treated her like she didn't exist. She turned to look at him once again as tears formed at her ducts.

He went to Jin Ai who was standing next to Some of his relatives. It seems like he was introducing her to one of the elders. "You're supposed to be in her place" His words echoed in her mind again.

She was supposed to be by his side. Jin AI was way more prettier. How would she be able to compete with an A class model. Her dress was absolutely stunning from head to toe.

They both looked good together. There was no denying it.

"Haaarrrrruuuuu" The old lady in front of him cooed as she pinched his cheek "Its only been a year and you already look younger!"

She gave him a cheesy grin as she raised her brows multiple time "Is Ai jin taking good Care of you?" she laughed.

"Aunt I'm a grown man...This is embarrassing" His eyes met with those that wouldn't stop watching his aunts way of expressing her love.

"When are you going to get married Haru" His uncle asked worried about his unknown plans "Beautiful Ai Jin must really love you to have been this patient for years" He suddenly went silent.

Jin Ai was his friend but he's never had feelings for her. She was beautiful and all but she wasn't the type of gal he was interested in. He only dated her because he was pressured. Nothing more, nothing less.

"We need a heir soon dear. You're of age now" His aunt said and he nodded "I'm making arrangements."

Meilin was all Alone in the midst of people she didn't know. She overhead a lot of people mocking her clothes, calling her poor, a gold digger, homeless critter, a lost child and other ridiculous names.

She managed to stay for an hour and she was already fed up from the cold reception she was getting from the guests and also Haru

She was about to leave when someone stopped her. A man that was looking for directions. He walked up to her, a worried look on her face as he greeted.

"Excuse me but can you escort me to the exit. I just came and I don't think I'm comfortable with the crowd" Meilin shrugged then nodded.

She knew exactly where the exit was because she kept on staring at it the whole time. Haru saw her leaving with a man but he couldn't see his face properly. He was about to follow but his nieces and nephews stopped him because they were craving for his attention.

Meilin stepped out with the man and turned to leave but she was stopped once again by three other men. They were masked and had knives with them.

"Where do you think you're going?" The man from before grabbed her then laughed with a sinister look on his face "You aren't leaving here alive."
