Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Same Meaning, Old Madam, Old Hag

Bai Xifeng closed her eyes as she relaxed. She missed her own laboratory, her poisons, and most importantly, the internet. She could not help but think about why she had not asked King Yama where he was sending her. If only she had known, she would have been able to reject the place he was sending her to.

Bai Xifeng held a strong disdain for ancient times, and with good reason. The absolute power and control wielded by the monarchy left no room for the common people to determine their own fate. The Chinese empire of old was particularly notorious for its oppressive rule, with emperors holding the power of life and death over their subjects. The mere thought of such an unjust system was enough to fill Bai Xifeng with a deep sense of anger and frustration.

Jo Anna, her best friend, enjoyed watching Chinese historical plays featuring the royal family. In the end, Bai Xifeng joined her in witnessing the drama. People must be kissing the ass of the royal family, with the emperor in particular. Even worse if the emperor was a foolish, lustful individual.

She then went through her memory bank to see who the royal family was. When she discovered she was connected to the world's royal family in some way, she was astounded. Since she was a little child, she had been engaged to the crown prince. 'However, what the heck? I have no desire to wed the crown prince who will become the emperor in the future.'

It was an easy reason. She was opposed to sharing her spouse with other ladies. There would be thousands of women surrounding the emperor. She desired her spouse, who was solely her property.

Bai Xifeng needed to find a way to break off the engagement.

Xiao Li ran inside the room. Bai Xifeng was still in her towel. She did not know where to take the clothes to wear.

"Young Miss, hurry up and wear clothes. Old Madam summoned you." Xiao Li informed Bai Xifeng.

"Old Madam? Who is that?" Bai Xifeng asked.

"Young Miss, it is your grandmother." Xiao Li quickly found the clothes for her young miss to wear.

Bai Xifeng processed Xiao Li's words. 'Oh, that witch.' The reason why Bai Xifeng was called the Old Madam Witch was because she always punished Bai Xifeng even though the mistakes were made by someone else.

Because she was not linked to the old madam. Bai Xiang, the Great General, her father, was not descended from the elderly woman. The grandpa of Bai Xifeng only had one concubine. That concubine became the senior member of the Bai Family because her grandmother had already passed away. The old madam was that concubine now.

Despite not being fond of her father Bai Xiang, the elderly woman desired to benefit from the Great General's position. Although the elderly woman had two sons and a daughter, they lacked the great general's strength.

As Bai Xifeng appeared to be unsure of how to wear the dress, Xiao Li assisted her young mistress in getting dressed. Xiao Li moved more quickly.

"All done. Let's go, young miss." Xiao Li said.

However, Bai Xifeng did not want to move. She steadily sat on the chair.

"Xiao Li, I'm hungry." Bai Xifeng said.

Bai Xifeng did not act in Xiao Li's opinion as usual. Her young miss would typically be running to see the old madam when the old madam phoned. Bai Xifeng now disregarded the elderly woman's order.

"Xiao Li, I need to eat. I'm hungry and want to eat. Or would you rather I devour you?" Bai Xifeng leaned her head with her hand and asked.

After saying something, Xiao Li fled upon hearing the final sentence. "Young Miss, hold on. I will grab you a bite to eat." She was worried that Bai Xifeng would carry out her suggestion.

Bai Xifeng surveyed the space. Nothing that would pique her curiosity. She left the room since Xiao Li was a little late giving her the food. She surveyed the courtyard once more.

This courtyard was not for a lady to stay but she did not care about that. This courtyard consisted of four rooms. One was her bedroom, one was her maid's bedroom, one was a kitchen, and the last one was a storage room.

Bai Xifeng expressed a desire to investigate the storage room. She was itching to see what she had stashed away. Something useful for her. It was obvious that the room had not been used for a while when she opened the door. It was evident to her from the smell.

"Young Miss, I already brought the food for you to eat. Please eat first before we go to the main hall." Xiao Li saw her own young miss who wanted to enter the storage room and quickly pulled her young miss.

'Alright, I'll check that room out later. Before we head to the battlefield, let's eat.' After making her decision, Bai Xifeng escorted her maid upstairs to her chamber. Bai Xifeng sat down to eat after noticing the food on the table.

"What the fuck?" Bai Xifeng spat the food that entered her mouth.

"Young Miss, are you okay?" Xiao Li asked.

"What is this?" Bai Xifeng pointed to the food. "Where did you get this? Did you cook this?"

"No. I went to the main kitchen to ask for the food but this is what I got." Xiao Li looked down.

Bai Xifeng let out a sigh. They really wanted to force the eldest daughter of Great General Bai to die. 'You are itching to play." Okay, I will come with you, but I get to pick the game.' She got to her feet.

"Where do you want to go, Young Miss?" Xiao Li asked when she saw her young miss standing up.

"Did you say that old hag wants to see me?" Bai Xifeng said.

"What? Young Miss, it is Old Madam, not an Old Hag." Xiao Li reminded Bai Xifeng.

"Isn't the same thing? Meaning old woman." Bai Xifeng laughed.

Xiao Li remained silent. Her young miss seemed to change. More to unrestrained. But she was kind of like this type of young miss.

Bai Xifeng continued to swear at the attire she was wearing in the meantime. 'This style of clothing bothers me. I want my jeans.' She kept falling because of her garments, but she was able to stop herself.
