Chapter 1 - Prologue

It was the next day to their one year anniversary and he was still not home. Shirley has outdone herself in every category be it food, decoration or gift. He was supposed to be back last night but he did not come. He did not even send a message of his absence, which has never happened before. He always informed her of his whereabouts, his plans so that she won't worry too much. But last night nothing of that sort happened. She had been worried for him all night and then today, still no response from his side. She has sent countless text messages, calls even voice mails but she could not get a hold of him.

Negative thoughts have started to pour in her consciousness when she has called his office and came to know that he has finished his meeting early and left ahead of his scheduled time. Finally, when it was around nine she got a message from a friend saying that he had seen Aaron and texted her address. She was skeptical at first as to why he would be there but then went to the mentioned location. She was having an inner war; her instincts were telling her that she would meet him there. But they were also warning her that this meeting won't do her any good. Nonetheless, she went with her gut feelings. She wanted him to be safe, other things; she decided that she would worry about them later.

It did not take her long to reach there it was only a fifteen minutes drive to his place.

Yes, the address was of his house where they lived until three weeks ago. It was due some repairing so temporarily they were living in her old house. When she has moved in with him they had decided to sell her house but then canceled it because they had some very good memories of that place. Now it had come in handy and saved them the trouble of looking for a place at a short notice.

She was still contemplating coming here to look for him but when she saw his car parked at the front she was taken aback. Earlier, at noon, she has checked this place just to be sure whether he returned here. The work was almost complete and they could move back in two day's time but he was not here. So now, seeing his car made her frown. She was in a hurry and went in calling his name. She did not hear any response and the house was deathly silent. She could feel the hairs rise at the back of her neck. An unknown terror gripped her heart. She was having a bad premonition about all this but still, she continued to look for him, calling out his name. She reached their bedroom and saw that the door was ajar. She did not think much as she pushed the door and went in.
