Chereads / The Soul Eater's Possession / Chapter 6 - Stop Spouting Nonsense

Chapter 6 - Stop Spouting Nonsense

"Devin, I think we should consider going back to the mansion for now."

Upon hearing his loyal servant, also his best friend's suggestion, the soul eater, mercilessly threw away the body of a dead man on the ground then stood up slowly. With his red eyes, he looked at the handsome servant behind him.

The man behind the soul eater was exceptionally handsome. He is tall and his body is well proportioned. The black suit that he is wearing emphasized his charisma well! It highlighted his slightly long silver hair more, which paired his unique grey eyes.

"I didn't tell you to speak to me, Ivar," Devin said as he wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth.

As Ivar was about to speak, they suddenly went silent when they heard a police siren from afar. The two of them stepped aside to let the police mobile pass. The two of them stayed on the sidewalk as they listened to the policemen in front of them.

The old policeman knelt down, then assessed the dead body on the ground. His young partner looked at the list on his hand, then back again at the man's dead body.

"This person is also one of the wanted criminals," he said then the policeman examined the dead body and noticed that the dead man was pale, and rather cold. Like his body was drained of blood.

He stood up, then sighed. "It's the same death as the other criminals on the list."

His partner looked at him. "Again? Who is doing this? I mean... I get it that the person's aim are the criminals but... why? We don't even have any lead to this guy," he commented then the old police man sighed again.

"Whoever this person is, we should also track him or her down. They always give a call anonymously every after death. This is the 9th time this year," he said then his young partner looked at him, curious.

"Why? That person's doing a good job, right? I mean... he or she might be a better shot of doing even our jobs."

When his leader heard this, he glared at the young man.

"A-ah! I'm sorry. Yeah, you're right. We should look for this mysterious person," he retorted then the old policeman sighed.

Devin walked closer to them and Ivar's eyes opened wide.

"What are you doing!?"

When Devin stopped in between them, suddenly the old policeman felt a chill on his body and shivered.

"Boss? What's wrong," the young policeman asked then his boss looked at him, with a little fear in his eyes.

"Nothing. We have to bring his body then go already. We still have investigations to do," the old policeman answered then the young officer just kept quiet and helped his boss.

Devin walked away suddenly, with Ivar following him behind.

"What did you do that for," Ivar asked with annoyance evident in his voice, somewhat forgetting that he even works for a powerful soul eater.

"The old policeman will die in seven years," Devin spoke, not answering Ivar's question.

"Yeah, so!?"

Ivar sounded frustrated at this point as he stomped his feet, following Devin.

"You know there are some mortals who can see us!"

The soul eater suddenly disappeared, leaving Ivar behind on the street.

"Hey!"

Ivar scanned his surroundings and when he looked up, he saw Devin on the rooftop of a hotel. He rolled his eyes, then he magically transported himself to where the soul eater is.

"Don't do that! I shouldn't take my eyes off of you, you know that—"

"Ivar... I can't get out of this, huh."

Devin suddenly interrupted Ivar, making him lose his annoyance for a while. He looked at his best friend and master seriously, then sighed as he shook his head.

Ivar knew what Devin was talking about. He was talking about the curse his mother gave him the day he was banished from their realm.

"We don't know that yet," he said sounding sincere, then Devin looked at him, his red eyes slowly turning back to purple.

Devin sat down on the edge of the building then looked down on the vehicles on the road driving during the night.

"We've been out for 18 years and I haven't found even one clue."

Ivar didn't know what to answer. Devin sounded slightly disappointed as he watched the cars come and go. He sat beside his best friend then looked at the night sky.

"Your eyes turned back to normal and that's a good thing," he said then he smiled at his best friend. "Let's go back to the mansion and think about this again someday," he added and Devin looked blankly at his hand.

"Yeah."

Ivar bumped Devin's shoulder then stood up.

"You've already accumulated a lot of human blood for meals. I guess by now you're satisfied," he remarked then Devin stood up and looked at him seriously.

"Satisfied? I'm still hungry. I'm called a soul eater for a reason," he commented, sounding rather angry.

"Well, yeah... human food won't satisfy you either. Why not hunt souls than drink human blood? Just like you said, you're called a soul eater for a reason and not a—"

Devin glared at Ivar, giving him a warning.

"Vampire," Ivar said in a scared whisper and Devin started walking away.

"If it were that easy, I would've done it," he said matter of fact, making his servant nod quickly.

"Well... you have a point," he agreed then Devin quickly looked back and gave Ivar an unexpected punch on the face.

"Then stop spouting nonsense!"

'Ow!'

Ivar followed his master suit, as he held on to his bleeding nose.
