Rutherford continued to stare at his wife until she was willing to explain why she had to interrupt such a pleasant environment that was surrounding the happy couple.

Raylene gulped feeling cornered and then rubbed her arms over his shoulders in a weak attempt to calm him down.

"I only desired to know whether this would affect her." She mentioned her reason for accidentally ruining the romantic air around them.

"Ruthy, you know that Paula has always been by my side and she came up with that solution because she could not see me worrying about what to give Vonny." She defended her maid.

Paula had followed her from her maiden home and hence Raylene favored her and was closer to her when compared to the other maids.

Though she had a good relationship with all the other maids, she had a close affinity with Paula since they had practically grown up together.

Paula's mother had been a low-level maid in Raylene's father's estate.
