As much as Elliot tried to rebound on the ground, her large dress sprawled over him like he was an unfortunate fish, meeting the ends of the interwoven mesh of the net. Moreover, a sudden weight came and pinned him on the ground.
It was but a split second that he viewed his surroundings twirled upside down.
For once, he stumbled, crashing his shoulder and tailbone on the meadows. The thud sent electrical barrages to his back as he got slammed hard.
He continued his blazing glares, but he could never discern her facial expression—shrouded with pitch darkness—with the highlights of her hair, glossy champagne met with the silvery moonlight.
Her head formed a halo from a glittering eclipse.
"Damn it," he cursed under his breath as he tried to break free, but he could not do so. "Get away from me, Draya."
"Not until you talk to me, Elliot." She grabbed a handful of his coat, pulling him close. "Why must you avoid me?"
