We were now in Luke's office—formerly Lucius's—sitting uncomfortably on the sofa that used to be my favorite lounging place. Is it the air? I feel like choking. I wish I could just go back to my room and sleep the night away, leaving everything behind as a dream.
He might be cursed, he said. And it's a curse that killed his mother. Killed. I truly hope this is just a dream. How come he is cursed? And how come the first thing Lucius brought back after being gone for years was bad news? This is obviously a joke. A terrible one.
After taking some time to process all of the news inside my brain, the storm finally struck, wrecking me into a mess. As if the first time wasn't enough, his life is now in danger for the second time. The word 'death' seemed to like him very much, and I dreaded hearing the word in the same sentence as Luke. What a scary word it is.
