The next morning, two carriages came for us. A few people I recognized as servants from our manor came out and helped me with my belongings, surprising me with the quantity of items they brought. Why would they bring so much stuff for such a short stay?
"Why did they bring so many things?" I asked, and when I saw them taking out two large suitcases, I turned to Luke. "You're staying too?"
He smiled as he side-eyed me. "Well, I'd like to impress my father-in-law."
He then proceeded to call for the servants to get moving. As it turns out, we're not the only ones who are staying. Luke had beforehand asked for John's permission to bring some servants over, and John was elated when he heard of the offer.
"Goodness, that would be wonderful," was what John had apparently said.
