"Why aren't you saying anything?" Dan asked when Bella remained silent after his confession.
"Because I don't know what to say," Bella said, feeling very self-conscious.
"You don't miss me?" Dan asked with a frown. At least he expected her to miss being under his roof and also to miss their usual banters.
If she were being honest to herself, she would admit that she missed him, but she couldn't bring herself to say the words, so she opted to change the subject instead, "That lady at the party, who was she?" She asked, making Dan sigh.
"Are you trying to play hard to get by changing the subject right now? Is that what you are doing?" Dan asked, making her roll her eyes.
"Why would I want to play hard to get?"
"Because it seems to me like that is what you are doing, and I don't think it makes sense," Dan told her honestly.
