" You pass!" said the princess joyfully.
I thought I was dreaming when I finally heard those words I was so meaning to hear. I shook my head in disbelief.
" What? I----- I------ I pass!" I reacted surprisingly.
" Yes, you did! Let me explain!" The princess reconfirmed.
" The last question was a test and you pass. You're officially our new nanny! Congratulations!" The princess casually congratulated me.
" Thank you! I made it! My dream will finally come true". I said joyfully with a tear coming out of my eye.
" Come with me! It's about time you meet my brother, the Emperor of the Li Kingdom". The princess walked forward and I followed right behind her.
The Emperor? I'm wondering what he looks like, was I thinking along the lines as I was walking with the princess.
As we were walking inside the imperial palace, I couldn't manage to hold my excitement at how pretty and fancy the palace was and I unconsciously let my inner thoughts be heard by the imperial princess.
" Wow! The palace is very fancy. Oh, sorry! Sorry, Princess! I didn't mean to-----" I retracted myself.
(Before I could finish my sentence, the Princess cut through and replied with a smile).
" I can understand how you feel! Wait for me here! I'll go get my brother". The princess said with a smile and walked away.
" Okay!" I nodded.
The Princess went looking for the emperor and I was amazed at how beautiful the imperial castle was. It is impossible for me to think that I'll be working here. It seemed so unreal to me. They didn't make it hard for me. Princess Li Mei is a very kind person. Even though she's a princess, she doesn't abuse her authority as royalty. I was still thinking about what had happened today, when I heard a voice interpellated me from behind.
" Hey, you! Are you the new Imperial Nanny?" The voice said from behind.
The voice came from a cranky voice and that person was looking at me with murderous eyes. It was a woman wearing nothing too glamorous. Compared to what the princess was wearing earlier, her clothing was average. Along with her black long hair and purple eyes, she was staring at me very angrily as if I had commit a crime by being here. Whatever that woman problem was, I wasn't going to let her or anyone in this palace push me around as they pleased.
" First of all, I'm not you. I have a name. Second, who are you to question me? And third, it's none of your damn business". I said in a cold tone.
" What arrogance? If you knew who I was, you wouldn't have dared disrespect me earlier. Let me introduce myself! I'm Chu Hua, an Imperial Concubine". The woman introduced herself.
" An Imperial Concubine? Ah, I see! How very unfortunate?" I said in a conniving tone.
" Why is that?" Concubine Chu Hua asked me questionably.
" You're not even the main lady of the kingdom. You're just a concubine. Didn't you know that the most important woman in the imperial harem is the Empress? The other ladies in the imperial harem like yourself, a concubine, and the consorts don't have any kind of importance. I'm sorry, but I don't give a damn that you're a concubine. Sorry!" I said in a conniving tone.
The concubine was angered by my words and she couldn't manage to show her displease to me.
" How dare you mock me? Take this slap!" The concubine raised her hand in anger and was about to slap me in the cheek.
" I'll take your slap, but I won't be the one receiving it. You'll receive it yourself". I stopped the concubine's hand in an instant.
Without a second thought, I slapped the concubine with my right hand and she feels the pain as her right cheek was burning.
" How dare you slap me?" The concubine reacted angrily, touching her burning cheek.
" What did you expect? Did you expect I was going to silently let you slap me without a reaction? Sorry, Concubine Chu Hua! I'm not so kind to let myself be slapped by a nobody". I said in a cold tone.
" You'll regret what you just did! I'll make you pay for your insolence! I'll get you fired!" The concubine said in an angered tone.
" Whatever!" I said annoyed.
" I'm serious, you know". The concubine said in an assertive tone.
" Yeah, yeah, yeah! Get out of my sight already!" I said annoyed.
" You, you-----------------------------" The concubine spoke up in a reluctant tone.
" What? Speak up! I can't hear you. Have you lost your tongue somewhere? Do you want me to get a physician for you?" I asked the concubine in a conniving tone.
" You're all happy and smiling like an idiot. If only you knew why they chose you in the end". The concubine said with a conniving smile.
" I think I know what your problem is!" I said in a cold tone.
" What are you talking about?" The concubine asked me in a questionable tone.
" Jealousy makes a woman so ugly, you know. Jealousy is the worst enemy of a woman". I responded in a cold tone.
" Jealous? Who's jealous of you? Have you taken a look at yourself? You're so ordinary. You can't compare to me". The concubine said in an angered tone.
" I may be ordinary, but it was me who got chosen to take care of the young prince education and not you. That's what's making you angry, isn't it? You're one of the emperor's many concubines and I'm only an ordinary young woman. Instead of asking you to take care of the young prince, they asked a stranger to do it. What can that mean? Do you know the meaning of this?" I asked the concubine in a cold tone.
" Shut your mouth!" The concubine said in an angered tone.
" Don't get so worked up about this, Concubine Chu Hua. Let me do you this favor and tell you the truth. The reason why the prince was not untrusted to you was simply because you're incapable of taking care of a kid". I said in a conniving tone.
" How dare you?" The concubine raised her hand at me yet again.
" What were you about to do? Were you about to slap me again or am I mistaking? Do not make this mistake, Concubine Chu Hua! It won't be good for you. Now, get out of my sight! I've seen you enough". I twisted her hand.
" I'll get you for this". The concubine left while glaring at me with murderous eyes yet again.
" I'm not a weak person anyone can intimidate". I said in a cold tone.
(What did she mean though? What truth was she talking about?)

Knock! Knock! Knock!
" Brother, I'm coming in!" The princess entered the emperor's quarters.
" What do you want?" The emperor asked the princess in a cold tone.
" I chose the new Imperial Nanny, that's the reason I'm here. You got to meet her and talk to her a bit about Wei. You also need to discuss with her the terms and conditions of the job". The princess responded in an assertive tone.
" I don't want to. You take care of it. I don't want to meet her". The emperor said in a cold tone.
" You need to meet her. After all, she's gonna take care of Wei from now on. But if you don't want to, I won't force you. I'll take my leave and leave you alone". The princess said in a sad tone and turned around to leave the emperor's quarters in regret.

" I promise!" The emperor gave his word.

" Chu Hua, what happened to your cheek? Why is it so red? Were you slapped by someone?" Concubine Ah Lam asked the concubine in a worried tone.
" Mind your own business!" The concubine passed through her and headed to her quarters.

(She was slapped, alright! I wonder who got the guts to put her in her rightful place. I'll have to find out who that person is).
On the other side
" I'm very sorry, Ying Yue! My brother, the Emperor won't be able to meet you today. He's very busy with the kingdom affairs, so------" The princess said apologetically.
" No need to apologize, princess! I can understand. He's the Emperor of the Li Kingdom and he must have a lot of responsibilities. It's okay! I'll get many chances in the future to meet the emperor". I cut her short and reassured her with a slight smile.
" Thanks for understanding! On behalf of my brother, I'll discuss the terms and conditions of your job. You'll work Monday to Friday and you can set your hours. Also, you'll get paid 50,000 Yuan". The princess said in a professional tone.
" 50,000 Yuan? That much!" I reacted shockingly at the amount of money the princess pronounced.

" I understand! I'll discuss the matter with my brother and let you know about his decision tomorrow". The princess said in a professional tone.
" Thank you, your Highness! Before I leave, I have a question to ask your Highness". I said suddenly.
" Ask away!" The princess gave her approval.
" What time does the Prince get off from school? I'm asking to accord my schedule". I asked the princess in a questionable tone.
" My nephew, the Prince doesn't go to school". The princess responded in an assertive tone.
" He doesn't go to school? May I ask the reason why?" I reacted shockingly at the news and enquired about the reason the prince wasn't schooled to the princess.
" I'll explain everything tomorrow! You may take your leave now!" The princess dodged the question.
" Okay! I'll be here tomorrow at 10 a.m". I paid my respect to the princess and exited the imperial palace.
