Chapter 165 - Chapter 165: I need to get a pet

[Stacy Pov]

"I don't know if I should be happy that my daughter caught a high-value target or worried that an obsessed sis-con is on his way to her," I said, running through a forest.

"Stacy, I need an update," Kayda said through my earpiece.

"Right, right, only 30 minutes before I arrive," I said through the earpiece.

"Wow, I thought you would take another hour and a half," Kayda said, sounding quite surprised but happy.

"Well, lucky for you, I was on the city outskirts, and I know how that guy is," I said, chuckling.

"Well, don't wear yourself out if a battle starts. We will need you," Kayda said sternly.

"It should be fine. He won't start anything if we don't make a move on his sister," I warned, jumping down a hill.

"We will see. She is with Kitsu, after all." Kayda said, trailing off.

"Right, anything can happen when she is involved," I said, nodding with a smile.

[Kitsu POV]

"What the hell is this!? 54 loses against a kid." Dea shouted, slamming the table in frustration.

"Hahaha, don't worry about it. It's your first time playing the game." I said, not really trying to make her feel better.

"That doesn't matter. You just won in 5 moves again!"

"Well, your start was shit."

"grrr."

"Well, to the next one?" I said, tilting my head at her after organizing the board again.

"Fine."

"Do you want black or white?"

"White. Can't you stop with the ice walls? It's getting cold." Dea complained, looking at the thick ice walls.

"No, run your lightning through yourself to heat yourself up or something," I said with a straight face.

"... Are you serious? You can't be serious, right? Right, you are a fox. You aren't serious." Dea muttered, talking to herself.

"Hahaha, nice detective work, miss gullible," I said, laughing at the conversation she just had with herself.

"Dea! Not gullible." Dea said, glaring at me.

"Yeah, but you need to concentrate on the game more. You lost your knight again." I said, showing her the knight in my hand.

"Dammit, stop distracting me." She grumbled, glaring at the chessboard.

"I am only conversing with you," I said casually.

"Tsk, I guess it's my fault then," Dea said, clicking her tongue.

"Do you have any pets?" I asked, raising an eyebrow at her.

"Hehe, of course, I have pets. I have a few, actually." Dea said, sounding proud of the fact that she had multiple pets.

"oh, few? I only have one, and she is full of energy. How do you handle two?" I asked, tilting my head at her and making a mental note actually to get myself a pet. A fox is preferable.

"Really, only one? They keep themselves busy, I guess. They love killing monsters for leveling." Dea said happily, nodding her head.

"Oh, so they are actually monsters themselves," I said with fake surprise, knowing she was quite weird.

"huh? Aren't all pets monsters?" Dea said, looking at me seriously.

"No, pets are mostly non-harmful creatures."

"Uh, that's food."

"... Right? So what sort of pets are they?"

"Oh, one is a minotaur, and the second one is a wolf. I have more, but these two are my favorites because they can talk with me."

"They can talk?"

"Yes, isn't that cool that pets that can talk with you?" Dea said, sounding very happy about it.

"... I agree, that's quite cool," I said, holding in my laugh.

So it's her 'pets', those two. Well, Mom did say the federation loves to make slaves.' I thought while taking her queen.

"NO!!! I hoped you wouldn't see that." Dea said, hitting her thigh in frustration.

"This board is quite small," I said, shaking my head at her.

"Hmph, you are right. If this were a real battle, I would have outmanoeuvred you long ago." Dea said, huffing herself and crossing her arms.

"Hmm, probably I am more bran than brains," I said, laughing.

"Hah, like I thought."

"So, back to your pets. What is the second best thing about them?" I said, trying to get back on topic.

"Oh, we can make clones of them so they can keep leveling up even though they aren't the ones doing the killing, but they... You bitch." Dea said, stopping mid-sentence and glaring at me.

"Hahaha, thank you for all the information," I said, laughing evilly.

"Shit, brother, is going to hit me," Dea said, looking down in grief.

"Oh, don't worry too much about that. It's information I already know," I said, waving her off.

"What?"

"Your pets. Yeah, I was the one that killed them."

"What!?"

"Yeah, thanks for the levels," I said, grinning at her. However, it was only 4 levels, sadly.

"Ugh, dammit, so it really was you."

"Yeah, to think a simple illusion will hide us so well," I said, cackling in delight.

"Dammit, I told Kay that it was you," Dea said, fuming.

"Kay? Was that your bodyguard?" I asked, tilting my head at her.

"Yes, the one you fucking killed."

"Good, he is already dead. His name sounded like sh*t." I said, smiling at her angry face.

"You! Your race really works well with your reincarnation." She said this, smiling at me.

"Oh, you're actually going to reveal that card?"

"What?"

"What you thought I wouldn't know that you knew about me being a reincarnation. With all the spies you dumbasses have in this kingdom, I already knew you knew about our reincarnations.

I am also sure you guys also came in contact with the trans furry in the last few months." I said, narrowing my eyes at her, trying to see if she might give me any new intel.

"Tsk, you can read minds, can't you?" Dea said, sighing calmly or trying to be calm. She had the expression of someone whose food had been stolen.

"Hahaha, with a face like yours, anyone can read your mind," I said, pointing at her face and annoying her even more.

"What!! There is nothing wrong with my face!" She yelled, standing up and slamming her hands angrily on the table.

"It's an open book to your mind, so there is," I said, not even flinching at her.

"How can you have a girlfriend with a damn personality like yours?" Dea said, hitting the table again and sending even more chess pieces into the air before sitting down again.

"What the fuck is wrong with your head? Are you jealous now or something? It jumps around like a kid on sugar." I said, annoyed at her mood swings.

"Hey, stop bullying me." Miss Gullible said, jumping out of her chair onto the bed and grabbing the closest pillow to hug it.

"... You are crazy."

"Whatever, her brother just arrived anyway," I said, looking out the window and smiling at the helicopter finishing up with my ice walls, making the entire room a proper bunker.

"Hey, why are you smiling like that?" Dea said, glaring at me while still hugging the pillow.

'What is this woman? I thought, tilting my head at her, confused.

[Kayda Pov]

"He is here," I said, looking at the plane hovering in the air.

"Yes, they are asking for where they can land," Rebecca said sarcastically.

"Well, as they can see, we are having a drill going on on all landing pads," I said, smiling but sounding severe.

"I have told them that, but they demand a landing pad now," Rebecca said, shaking her head and holding out the scroll at me.

"yeah? Give it here. Let me talk to the dumbasses."

"Hello, hello; answer me, please. Where is our landing pad?" An agitated voice spoke from the other side of the scroll.

"Yo, we don't have a landing pad open right now. As you can fucking see, we are doing a drill right now. Dont, worry. You guys will only need to wait for a few minutes for them to finish up."

"What is a few minutes?"

"30 minutes."

"what!

"Tell your boss next to you he can have a free demonstration of our tactics," I said, knowing we weren't actually doing any tactics, just sparring on a large scale.

"Like hell, those shitty movements are part of your tactics." A more demanding and annoyed voice spoke, replacing the first guy.

"Oh, you finally started to talk."

"Where is my sister?" The man demanded it, making me roll my eyes.

"She is with a lovely fox, so don't worry about her," I said sarcastically.

"You!"

"Ah, just remember, if something unexpected happens out here. She will kill your sister. And not in a quick way." I said it in a warning tone.

"Is that a threat?" The man said it as if he couldn't believe what I said.

"Why are you asking a dumb question like that? Of course, it's a threat. You dare to put your hands on things you don't have the right to. Then you dare to demand something from us? Wake up, bro-con. If you want anything from us right now, you need to wait." I said it aggressively.

"You are stalling for time." The man said, sounding a lot like Kitsu, trying to get information out of me without directly asking for it.

"Pfft, of course we are. The more time we get, the more information we get out of that gullible girl." I said, laughing at him through the scroll.

"you will."

"Didn't you already forget? We have your sister. Anything that happens out here will get her killed."

"Grrr."

"Grinding your teeth like that will make them fall out," I said, ending the call.

"Did you really have to go that far?" Rebecca said, taking the scroll back from me.

"Heh, not really. Kitsu is just rubbing off on me," I said, grinning at her.

"sigh," sighing Rebecca shook her head, taking the scroll back.
