The ride back to Itrusia felt much more peaceful. Now that she knew who her mother was, Delaney was calmer and ready to move on. They arrived at dusk and Darius embraced her as soon as she was out of the carriage.
"You are finally back. The sun doesn't shine as bright when you are away." He pressed her head against his chest.
"That has more to do with the fact that you keep your drapes closed than Her Highness's absence, my lord." Exposed Elifur, who was stuck behind Darius like a shadow. Everyone laughed at Darius.
"Why is Elifur stuck behind you? What happened to Felix?" She asked when she realized how Elifur had addressed him.
Darius wasn't ready to start explaining. "A lot happened while you were gone, my wife. Let's catch up over dinner in half an hour."
She nodded in agreement. It didn't seem right to discuss private matters with everyone watching anyway.
