"Ms. Xin, we will be reaching in half an hour," the driver announced.
Nodding, she simply read the file as he unexpectedly pressed the brakes. she narrowed her eyes at the driver and he shuddered under her stare. She ordered him to stop the car. He knew his end was near. Very good.
"I'm so—"
"Don't say sorry," She said in a low voice. "When you don't mean the word."
His eyes widened before he could react or point the gun at her, the bodyguards came running and circled the car. The gun in the driver's hand staggered when he saw a number of guns pointed at him. When he took this assignment, he wasn't told that he would be killed this way. It was over. All was over for him.
"We will get you the answers by the end of the day, Miss Xin," Cao Feng said simply. Seemed like her right hand was getting better day by day. He had an inkling about this driver who had accepted bribes from their enemies.
Now the question was which one? Unfortunately, they did not lack them.
Reasonable question would be, who cleared him to be the driver of her car?
As much as she was aware, everything reached her after a long and tiring security protocol. How could it be that her security, which was one of the best in the world, cleared an assassin like him to be her driver?
"Cao Feng, how did this get to this stage?" She asked, only half interested as Alexander, the head of her security passed her another file.
"He has a debt of millions and the Bai family offered him money to get information about you ma'am," he said, waiting for her to give the go-ahead.
Zhenyi sighed and gestured them to take him away from her gaze. She was not interested for an interrogation now. Her head was filled with another tension.
"Please forgive me, " She heard the loud shrieks when the security dragged the man away.
" Get all the information on him and keep a close eye on the man. Report if he does something suspicious," Cao Feng said to his subordinate.
Just because they didn't kill him today didn't mean they could not destroy his life tomorrow. To be honest, if she was not visiting her father today she would have shot him with her pretty hands but too bad she didn't want to smell like blood. Her father wouldn't be very pleased with the idea.
Cao Feng sighed. "You should have let me kill him, Ma'am."
"Not that I don't want to but Bà would be be pleased and I live to please him, don't I?" She cocked her brow.
Cao Feng wanted to laugh but he couldn't. She was being sarcastic once again.
Later, Cao Feng gave her an envelope with information on her future husband and his family.
Husband. She flinched at the word.
She wouldn't deny that her future husband was an attractive. His unique gray eyes that were not common with asians attracted him. There was a well practised smile on his face and she had an itch to wipe it too. What right he had to smile when she was like this? Shouldn't he be just as restless as her?
"His full name is Long Jie, Long as in dragon and Jie as in pure, age Thirty -two. He graduated high school at fifteen, Havard at twenty," Her right-hand man said, sorting through the file. He added, "At the top of his class."
Something got her attention.
"Any woman he was seen with?" She asked. She just wanted to know what she was getting into.
"We can't find any, " Cao Feng replied. "For some reasons, he is too clean which only adds to our doubts about what he is hiding."
Zhenyi smiled to herself. She felt an upper hand in this charade for some reasons. She knew that her father wouldn't let her fiance see him before marriage. He was playing his game and savouring it's taste but she could get all the information on him.
Who asked him to be a public figure?
Zhenyi grinned.
Then, Cao Feng told her about rest of the members of Long family – Long Yuhan was the patriarch who absolutely hates her family. She could say to the old man 'me too' with his legendary frown. Then, there was Long Shaoming and Song Lily. Long Shen and his wife who had a son Long Wei. Long Wei was close to her fiance. Long Jie had a brother Long Yuan who was engaged to a popstar.
The Long family was too perfect to be true and she wondered what would happen when she would enter the family?
Would she be eaten by sharks or would she, the shark, swallow all of them?
It was going to be one hell if a ride and she could feel it.
