Keiko's heart pounded against her chest as her eyes looked down at the blade in her grandmother's hands.
Her eyes met the Elder's and, at that moment, Keiko saw nothing but cold resolve in them.
"... Honestly," her grandmother said, "when this day started, I had thought this would be easy. I've hated you for so long, after all, that, I would be lying if I said I hadn't contemplated this before. However, seeing you fight on behalf of the city did make me stop and think. Now that this opportunity has been presented to me, though, I believe what I must do is quite clear."
Keiko looked up at the ceiling. She couldn't stomach the sight of this woman after hearing that.
"Just because," she coughed, "just because I think people deserve a little bit better?"
