The thick layer of violet blood that had come from slaughtering her enemies at Jade had long since dried. As she flew through the clouds, Ash kept her eyes low, trying to see how much longer it would take before she arrived at Amber.
Am I too late? She couldn't help but wonder. She'd done everything she could to boost her speed. Even going as far as to sacrifice a portion of her own lifespan. The fact that it could still not be enough to save Kaori made Ash's heart pound against her chest.
Thankfully, long after the land below had changed to reflect the deserts that surrounded the southern city, she saw it. The Outskirts were the first thing that came to view. The buildings that rested just a short walk away from Amber's gate. Then, she saw the portal and the city itself, and she pushed herself to move even faster, slicing through the air.
