The rest of the carriage ride was quiet, and they soon arrived at the demon kingdom. Their carriage made its way to the palace as Quinn saw many men and women wearing foreign clothes and jewelry. Even though the men wore robes and women wore foreign jewelry, they all looked like they were human except for their beauty.
"This carriage is not a total carriage that is why no one has noticed that the King is here." Vincent explained looking out the window too as he saw her looking at the people in amazement.
"Oh, I see now, and how are you all so beautiful? It's amazing and scary at the same time. I have always thought that demons were supposed to be dark, evil and not pretty." She turned to him as her eyes held surprise and wonder in them.
He smiled showing slightly pointed teeth, "That is just how demons are, and some demons have the power to elude making people see them as very beautiful then making them do what they want."
"Whoa, I guess I have to be very careful around here since I do not know the type of power each of you hold."
"Yes, you need to be very careful as I told you that we have enemies both inside and outside the kingdom."
"Yes, and your step mother is on the top of the list."
"She is, especially since she lives in the palace with us. My father's mother also lives in the palace as queen mother, but since I became king, mother is now queen mother and she is royal grandmother."
"Is she on your mother's side or step mother?"
"She has always liked mother and supported her and I. She also knows how scheming step mother can be."
The carriage stopped and she looked out the window to see them parked near a wall. She turned back to Vincent with her eyebrows raised questionably. He glanced at the window then opened the carriage's door. "We are going in through a hidden passage since no one knows I left. People were to be told that I was attending to personal business in my chamber if they asked of me."
He climbed down and turned around holding a hand out to her. She stood up and took his hand, using it to climb down. She quickly let go of his hand as she felt how warm and welcoming it felt as a slight blush rose up her neck.
Cesar climbed down from beside Oscar and came to stand in front of them as Oscar drove the carriage away. He bowed again and said, "Your Majesty, the secret passage way is this way."
"Alright, lead us to it." Vincent answered as Cesar raised up from his bow and turned around. He started walking forward towards the wall, and they followed him.
He pressed his hand against the stone wall and it went through easily, he remove it and faced them. "Here it is, Your Majesty."
"How? His hand went through the wall…" Quinn said in shock as she stared at the wall.
"Yes, his power is to be able to open doors where there aren't any. He opened a door on the wall when he placed his hand there making anyone to be able to walk through it." Vincent explained as he stepped up to the said wall.
"That is incredible." She said amazed as she also stepped up to the wall.
"It is." He turned to her smiling, and she felt her heart beat faster at how handsome he looked.
He held out his hand to her for the third time that day looking into her eyes, "Let us go in."
She placed her hand in his and felt him grip it lightly then intertwined their hands as he pulled her to go through the wall. It felt like walking in through a normal door to her, and not through a wall. Cesar followed behind them then pressed his hand on the wall again, but only against it this time. He did that for a few seconds before he removed his hand.
As she faced the inside of the palace, she saw that they were in a courtyard. There were flowers and shrubs everywhere and flowers fell from the trees as the light wind blew them. There were wide stone steps in front of them that led to pavilions and house buildings inside them.
Vincent pulled her to the steps and started climbing it with her beside her, "We are in my court, and we need to go to my room quickly before anyone sees you."
She nodded as he took her past some house buildings and to one in the middle decorated beautifully. He opened the door of his chambers and they entered with Cesar following behind them. He turned to Cesar as he let go of her hand, "Bring us food, and bring the Queen a change of clothes from the room I had prepared for her."
"Yes, Your Majesty." Cesar answered slightly bowing his head then turned and left the room closing the door.
"You prepared a room for me? Can I go there now?" She asked as she looked around his very large sleeping chamber.
He had a large in the middle of the room, there was a wardrobe and a large suitcase adjacent it, a door was facing the bed which she was guessing was the bathroom. A table was standing at the foot of the bed with two chairs in front of it. Even the curtains were long and lavish as well as the carpet. The room was at least three times the size of hers, and just his courtyard was almost as large as their whole palace.
"No, you can't go there yet. There are eyes and ears in the palace. Since no one knows you're here yet, you need to stay hidden here until tomorrow when Cesar will take you back out so that you will come into the palace as my bride." He said as he walked to his bed and sat down. He started removing his shoes as he looked back up at her when he heard her speak again.
