They swirled through the stars on the ceiling like a luminous sea. As the colors changed and pulsed, Marcellus felt the air return to his lungs. This wasn't that hellhole he used to live in. He was safe, and he was home. Winter is right beside him.
He breathed deeply, feeling the tension in his body dissipate. His heart was still beating with adrenaline, but he had actually managed to avoid a panic attack.
'That was… amazing.'
Rustling sheets caught his attention. To his side, he found his beloved stretching and groaning.
"Hmmm… Marcellus? Are you okay?" she mumbled sleepily.
Marcellus let out a shaky breath - a cross between a laugh and a sob. He turned to look at Winter with a smile, his eyes full of love and gratitude.
"Yeah," he whispered, reaching out to her.
