Faith sat silently at dinner just pushing her food around her plate. Greg reached to rub her back and kissed her temple.
"Are you okay, babe?"
"Stop babying me."
"I'm just trying to help."
"Well you're not," she said raising her voice, making her entire family turn their attention to her. "No one is helping! This whole thing is fucked up and I can't do anything about it."
"Babe, what did I say?"
"Why do you have to be so nice? Why can't you just be a jerk like every other guy?" standing she shoved her cahir across the floor. "I hate you!"
Greg felt like his heart would break from hearing those words. Standing he took a deep slow breath before saying, "I think I should go."
Grabbing his shirt she yelled, "The hell you are. You can't. Don't leave me like everyone else does."
