Being inside her was like coming home—the only place he never wanted to leave. For a moment, emotion washed through him as his mind spun nightmares in which she'd disappeared and never returned, taken by the humans, or lost fighting them.
As he rocked into her again, a guttural groan ripped between his teeth and he squeezed his eyes closed against the images in his mind.
But Sasha's hands in his hair, her kisses on his mouth, his jaw, his neck, the way she rose to meet him, her body writhing, hot, and soft, embracing him… it all pushed the darkness back.
Then he opened his eyes and with a whispered urge to wait, but without removing himself from her, he sat back on his heels to stare down at her.
