At the edge of a beautiful lake that glittered, Mirabel sat on the grassy ground with Adrik's head laid on her lap. She gently caressed his hair and couldn't help but smile at the length of his hair. "You have grown so much." Tears welled up in her eyes and she suddenly found herself reminiscing about the first moment she held him in her arms. He was just a cute, innocent child whom the world hadn't ruined. He was just a child that never experienced hate from his own father.
How much she wished she had stayed. She would have given him all the love he desired, all the love that no one showed him. She inhaled deeply to calm herself down and gently leaned down, placing a soft loving kiss on his forehead. "You are safe." She smiled warmly at him, and Adrik's head suddenly moved.
A grimace emerged on his face, and with a hiss exiting his mouth, he blinked his eyes open.
