When Jillian returned later that day, it was almost midnight. Lu Yizhou had remained in the same position, watching as the carriage with the Duke's insignia drove in through the gate, followed by Jillian whose clothes and hair were slightly disheveled compared to when he had just left early in the day. He was carrying a box in his hands, his pace brisk and hasty as he entered the manor and disappeared from Lu Yizhou's sight.
Not one minute later, footsteps echoed outside the room and the door swung open, revealing the aforementioned man, slightly breathless and flushed, wayward strands of hair escaping from his ponytail. His eyes brightened as they laid upon Lu Yizhou.
