Chapter 6 - 6.

The next day I woke up annoyed and cranky. During the night I woke up multiple times because I felt so cold, while the others were already awake and dressed I woke up and waited to get dressed until the other girls were gone.

I quickly picked some clothes out of my bag, black ripped skinny jeans, a black top as a first layer, and an Abbey Dawn crop top as my second layer. Since I was already a hot topic yesterday for simply being seen with Jake, I figured what worse could it do to wear his zipped hoodie, people would talk for no reason, all I should do is let it slide and ignore it.

I quickly brushed my long brown hair and left the cabin. The signal went off, announcing it was time for breakfast.

While I sat down I ignored the rest of the people at my table, I made myself some sandwiches for later in the day, I had no idea how people could already eat food this quickly after waking up, so I skipped eating anything for now and just poured myself a glass of water while the others ate.

Yesterday we travelled on the bus for about five or six hours, today we would go to Six Flags, a two or three-hour ride if I was correct. Right after breakfast, I went to the cabin to grab my MP3 player, an old paperback, and my backpack to put it all in.

When there were only three people before me to enter the bus I prepared for two or three hours with a stranger, or worse, someone I couldn't stand next to me when Jake appeared next to me.

"Feel like sitting together?" He didn't look at me, he looked in front of us, and so did I.

"Sure," I said and shrugged, I had hoped to sit with Josie, maybe Andrew but at least Jake was manageable to sit next to for hours.

Once we sat down, I took out my black MP3 player, sat down in the seat next to the window and Jake sat down next to me by the aisle. I put my headphones in and the voice of Hayley Williams blared into my ears singing misery business. Softly I felt Jake's hand tapping me, I took one of the headphones out of my ear and looked at him.

"Sorry, I didn't hear you," I apologized.

"It's okay, I just wanted to know if I can listen too, I forgot my MP3 at home and I could use some new music to keep practising with drumming and playing guitar."

I rolled my eyes and handed Jake one of my headphones. We sat comfortably next to each other in silence for a while, as I looked outside while listening to the music and felt thankful Jake sat next to me instead of someone worse.

A teacher just announced we were one hour away from Six Flags, Jake and I talked for a while, and when we fell quiet we just listened to the music on my mp3 player, I looked outside and I had no idea what Jake looked at. Suddenly I felt something warm when I looked I saw Jake's pinky softly touch my leg.

It took me long enough to realize he wanted to grab my hand, I let him, and the warm feeling of his big hand holding my small hand made me more relaxed than I liked to admit. Though I knew this didn't mean anything, I also didn't want him to let go of my hand.

As if on cue, multiple voices started to sound through the bus.

"Jake likes Jade, Jade likes Jake."

Taunting, annoying. I didn't reply, nor did I know why it started. I just hoped they'd soon know he was just hanging around me because I'm his sister's best friend, almost part of the family. Not because of any reasons they think.

We had to get out of the bus, I grabbed my black backpack, and as we all walked out of the bus we didn't hold hands, I didn't even talk with Jake, it was just a strange moment, I told myself when we were looking around, me looking for Josie or Andrew and Jake probably for one of his friends.

"Love birds alert." Ashley's voice sounded taunting while she and Jessica walked in our direction.

"What is it Ashley, jealous of something that isn't even a fact?" I raised one eyebrow, gave her a daring look, and made sure my posture was right.

"So defensive for something that isn't even real," Ashley said back.

"What about you shut up and leave her alone," Josie said, from behind Ashley and Jessica with a girl I didn't know.

"You know she could only pull Jake by doing some freaky voodoo shit." Ashley finished and Jessica barked at me. I rolled my eyes and Jake was still silent all this time, probably surprised people made assumptions based on us just talking.

"I know I'm not pulling anyone, nothing here to worry about, though through the years I've known Jake, I do know this pathetic way of acting won't get him interested in you anytime soon either." I taunted back right before they walked away.

"Don't ever let them get to you, and why the hell didn't you speak up and defend her?" Josie went off to Jake about his lack of help.

"Girl drama just isn't my thing," Jake defended himself.

"And neither is being a man," Josie said to which he stayed silent.

"I'm Ximena by the way," the girl who was with Josie said to me and I shook her hand. She was a tall girl, at least five foot eight, she was skinny and looked like a Latina with her straight black hair and her colourful skin, she had a combination of an oval-shaped face and a diamond-shaped face, she was absolutely gorgeous.

While we had fun during the day, we also needed to stop for a bathroom break. Josie and Ximena came with me and as soon as the boys were out of hearing distance Josie asked the question burning on her lips.

"So, what's up between you and Jake?"

"Nothing, as far as I know, why would there be something?"

"You really don't see it? He's a player, just be careful."

"It's fine, it's just that I'm his sister's best friend and he probably is just being nice to look out for me, that's all. I pashed the thought away that Jake could like me that way and decided that I needed to get through the rumours first.
