Mariela's POV
"Are you sure you are okay, Ella?" Carlos asked the moment I sent him to his room.
"Of course, I am fine, sir," I responded.
"Mariela, I already told you to call me, dad; my son told me about everything. I know you are married, and you need to get used to it; I want to hear you call me dad or father." He said, and I weakly smiled at him.
"O-okay, dad," I replied, and his face lit up.
"That is better, and it feels so nice to hear from you that you call me dad. I wished I did things differently; now, my days are numbered, and I am afraid to die without seeing my son happy again." He said.
"You are not going to die, dad," I said, and it felt so right to call him dad even if I had hated him for many years for being a wicked man.
