Mariela's POV
I could tell my husband was watching me as I woke up in the morning, and I loved the feeling of being with him every time I woke up. But, sadly, our happiness was replaced with grief when we learned that my father-in-law needed to be brought to the hospital.
I was shocked at first as I heard Pablo's words, and I got up hastily from the bed and rummaged through the cabinet for a decent dress to wear. I could feel my husband's anxiousness as I held his hand as we got out of our room.
Our entire family was there, watching as the rescuers carried the unconscious body of Carlos, the head of the Lopez empire. He was such a powerful man when I first came to Minglapolis, and he intimidated me just by the way he looked at me on my face.
