Chapter 16: Asher is a traitor
Pepper glared at him. He was currently at number six of what he wanted from her. Pepper wondered why someone who looks like an angel could be a mini devil sent to her house to torment her.
She blinked at the seventh request. She was certain now, Asher was certifiable. Who does he think she was? his seventh request wasn't just outrageous but it made Pepper take a step closer. She was standing so close to him.
"I am sorry, what?" Pepper asked him.
Asher took a step back for his own safety. He wasn't a lunatic. He knew that poking a dragon would lead to being consumed by flame. Asher was playing with flame and somehow he was both terrified and excited.
"Could you please repeat what you just told me?" Pepper said and took a step closer to him.
"I said it's only fair that we consummate our marriage….I mean, it's not like you have a lot of options" Asher whispered with a smirk.
Pepper was suddenly nervous and she played with her hair. What exactly was Asher talking about? What does he know that she doesn't?
"Have you been talking to Junie? Because I have options. I make love with different men every single day….I..I..I am the goddess of sexy…okay? Aphrodite has nothing on this booty"
Asher stared at her like he was looking at an alien. Why was Pepper nervous? Then it clicked on him, was the Queen of nasty attitude a virgin?
"I am sexy…with a killer body….men should consider themselves lucky to have me. Consider yourself blessed to have access to my lips…" Pepper stopped mumbling when she saw the look on Asher's face.
"What?!" She screamed at him
"Nothing" Asher murmured.
"Well, get it into your thick skull that I have…options…a lot of it"
"Fine. I agree with you, goddess of sexy. There will be no sex" Asher said and tried to leave.
So far, he has forced her into doing seven things for him. He could kiss her without death knocking on his door, she would be involved in the day to day activities of his daughter.
Pepper would go on date night and be nice to him at least twice a week. There will be no more electrocution and he was allowed to sleep in her bed. Pepper accepted begrudgingly.
Asher wanted to go back to the sitting room and lie with a straight face to Gramps when pepper stopped him.
"Why?"
"Why what?"
"You said there will be no sex. Wait? Do you not find me sexy? Do you think I am ugly?" Pepper with a squeezed face.
"I am sorry. Do you want to sleep with me?" He asked her.
"Ew! Of course not, I barely know you" Pepper answered with a disgusted face.
"But you don't like that I said that there will be no sex?" Asher asked with one eye dimmed. "Let me get this clear, when you don't want me, it is fine but when I say I don't want you, it's a…problem?"
Asher gave up, there was no winning when it came to Pepper.
"Yeah! I mean, have you seen me? I am gorgeous. I am super. I am intelligent. I am an Angelina jolie lookalike if she was half Asian. I mean…" Pepper turned to face the mirror "...I am exotic"
Asher exhaled and blinked to refocus his confused brain. He pointed at the door and then he raised his hand up like he was surrending.
"I am going to slowly open the door now because frankly, you are insane and I am scared"
Asher moved slowly around her and he opened the door.
"Asher?"
"Yes, Pepper"
"Remember to tell my grandfather that you are madly in love with me and I am the best person you know" Pepper told him.
"So…I should lie?"
"Yes! Asher, lie" Pepper said through her clenched jaw.
As soon as Asher left the bathroom, Pepper looked at the mirror. She examined her reflection for a while.
Could he tell that she was clueless when it came to sex? that the closest she came to getting rid of her virginity was with a man who ended up having a heart attack on top of her? and how mortifying it was explaining to the paramedics what strenuous activity he was doing when the said heart attack happened.
"I am beautiful!" Pepper screamed one more time before she joined her Gramps and Asher in the living room.
"Hey, Gramps. I see that you like my...my lovely husband" Pepper said with a big smile.
"Callie, he was just telling me how you first met in a courthouse parking lot"
Pepper felt everything go by her in a slow motion.
"Asher, you traitor!"
