Chapter 62: who screwed you up?
(R18, tread carefully)
Both Asher and Pepper sat on opposite end of the dining table. Asher with a newspaper and Pepper, eating a freshly cooked breakfast while operating her phone.
They kept to themselves except when Asher occasionally lowers the newspaper to look at her but never stares long enough for her to catch him doing that.
It continued until Asher saw that Pepper wasn't in a hurry to break the silence. He dropped the newspaper and stared openly.
"Alright, that's enough cowering for a lifetime. We need to talk" Asher looked at her but she didn't take her eyes away from her phone or her attention away from the food she was eating.
"About the breaking and entering, the hostage situation or bringing my grandparents into our private matter?" Pepper asked in a low voice.
