I was about to drift off into sleep when suddenly Hayden took my hand in his. He held my hand as we lay there side by side, staring up at the stars in the sky. I wished that the stars didn’t have eyes and were not witnesses to what we just did. That was such a silly thought and it made me feel very silly as well.
“Why were you crying?” Hayden asked out of the blue.
Honestly, I had no idea what he was referring to.
“Huh?” I said questioningly.
“The day I slept with you…Auntie told me that she saw you crying when you left my room. Why were you crying, Malissa?” Hayden asked as he turned his head to the side and looked straight at me.
My eyes widened in shock and surprise. Auntie told Hayden about that? I was also shocked at how he could ask me something like that with a straight face. How straightforward can this man be?
“I…it’s nothing,” I replied.
