The moment she stepped inside the elevator, Lilly Rose felt the ground shake under her feet. Her body moved on its own and pressed itself onto the cold metal wall of the elevator. The soft humming of the machine signaled that it was moving upward.
She wished she didn't cuddle much of her pride and just called Matthew and told him that she was sick and needed help. But she valued her pride so much that she rather suffered on her own than asked for help. She knew that it was not a good attitude of hers but she could not help it.
And it gets terrible when she is on one of her overthinking sprees, self-pitying, and jumping to the conclusion that she was being a burden to others.
Her mother told her that she would never be a burden to them but she could not help feeling that way sometimes. How could she not? She simply existed at home, getting everything she wanted and more even though she was not really contributing anything.
