The warm water cascaded over her skin and Lilly Rose closed her eyes, tilting her head upward to have the water kiss her face and washed away her tears.
She had come home from the hospital. The doctor said she was fine but they didn't tell her why deep inside her heart, she felt hollow. Like something was taken away from her and she didn't know what it was and everyone just gave her a kind look, the kind of look that was borderline pity and she hated it.
She hated the patronizing look that everyone was giving her. Especially Matthew. He was treating her like a fragile glass that needed to be taken care of. If it happened before, her heart would dance in happiness but right now, she didn't want any of those looks, those touches, and those careful words. She wanted things to be just like before. She wanted that night to never happen.
She shuddered under the shower as if she was cold even though the water was enough to turn her skin into a cooked lobster.
