"She wants to meet Tiffany?"
"That's what she said," Pete said, keeping his facial expression clear of any emotions. "Lilly Rose had an emotional encounter with her mother, hence, I did not push her when she childishly refused to get off the car."
"Thanks, Pete," he patted his shoulder. He looked at the car where Lilly Rose was and he felt a prick in his chest with the idea that his wife did not want to see him. He heaved a deep breath and glanced at Pete. "You take care of her."
"You take care of Nana Ruby. She's worrying a lot about Lilly Rose and Lilly Rose wants to make sure that Nana Ruby settled comfortably but she was too childish to do so."
"You're talking about my wife, Pete. Lilly Rose was hurt. I understand that she isn't ready yet. Give her time."
Pete chuckled dryly. "Henpeck," he murmured under his breath, loud enough for Matthew to hear.
