Matthew tore his eyes away from the thick documents in his hands to stare at the clouds outside his window. He released another sigh, his thoughts were flying back home to his wife.
He had left home without telling her that he wouldn't be home for a few days.
Guilt washes over him and his hand moves to the inside pocket of his suit, feeling his phone and the urge to call home intensifies when he remembers what they discussed.
It wasn't really a discussion. He demanded to his wife that she should stop seeing the doctor that her father had provided for her.
He was still mulling over when the junior secretary that he brought for the trip cleared his throat to get his attention.
"Sir, your home office is calling."
Matthew clicked his tongue in annoyance. He hated being disrupted when he was in deep thoughts.
"There is nothing there that William can't fix by himself."
