She splashed her face with some cold water and rubbed her cheeks vigorously, rubbing them as though she wanted to erase the marks of tears that mare her face. She was rubbing her face with so much force that her cheeks looked inflamed.
Now that she settled her school schedule, she realized that Matthew hadn't tried to touch her as his wife. She wondered if he was avoiding her or if he had no plan to consummate their marriage.
It would be laughable if it was the latter. What would it make her? A wife on a piece of paper? A retainer for the business contract between him and her father?
She stared at her reflection in the mirror and stifled a sob. Her tears won't help her with her problem. It won't offer any answer.
Full of frustration, she tugged the white face towel on the rack and dried her face. She should just pat her face dry but with her emotion being in turmoil, she rubbed her face as though she was erasing something disgusting on her face.
