Lili stood in the hallway, staring at her father's closed office door, wondering why her heart was pounding so violently. Her conversation with her father was unsatisfactory since he cut her off from speaking her mind, which was something that her father did every time he was busy. There wasn't anything new to it. That's why she could not understand why she felt like she had missed something important.
"Miss Morgan."
Lilly yelped and grabbed her chest when her father's secretary suddenly called her attention.
"Did I startle you, Miss? Sorry," she said apologetically. "Should I escort you out?"
Lilly took another glance at her father's study before she reluctantly followed the young woman to the living room.
