It was not yet time for the bar to open for business, so there was basically no one around. The lights were very dim, and there was a singer on stage singing an old love song.
The voice was deep and romantic.
They sat at the bar counter. Gu Chu ordered a glass of warm water, while the others ordered wine.
Gu Chu looked past Meng Lang and Wang Xiao. "Aren't you supposed to report back to the army?"
Wang Xiao was a man of few words. "It's a holiday."
"No," Meng Lang interjected. "He lied to you, he actually applied for leave. You've been through so much recently, and he's a little worried, so he asked for leave to come back and see you. Tomorrow, before dawn, he's going back."
Gu Chu felt a warmth in her heart. She clinked her glass with his. "Thank you!"
Wang Xiao nodded and raised his head to finish his drink.
