When Vanessa opened her eyes, she found herself lying on something like a table in the darkness. There seemed to be some moonlight seeping into the room….
Her eyes scanned around to discover some figures around her.
Then there was a flash of lightning.
Her heart began to pulsate at a rapid rate.
There was another flash of lightning before the shaking sound of thunder. The second stretch of light concluded that what she'd seen was real.
The handful of people surrounding her….. had no face. They were just dark shadow-like creatures with human stature.
'Calm down', she told herself although her heart wouldn't stop pounding. The strange creatures didn't seem to be making any move, were they waiting for her? Or could they not move?
With all the courage she managed to muster, she moved off the table to stand on both feet. She was facing the direction the door and window had been.
