Chapter 18 - Unpleasant news

~Markus~

"Markus, you know I won't call you if it wasn't urgent."

"And?" I asked, looking into Aurora's deep blue eyes. Her eyes should be green, like Aurora Borealis in the sky, so it would add some mystery to her name.

"I should warn you about unpleasant guests that are coming towards your mansion…"

"Unpleasant? What do you mean, Kristof?"

"How should I say it, in other words…"

"Just spit it out…"

"Your family is on the way to you, and there's no way back."

"Sh*t…" I turned off the call, put my phone back in the pocket, and looked again into her deep blue eyes. They are making me calm down and feel relaxed as if I'm swimming in the ocean full of clear blue water. I sighed, "My family is coming here right in the time when I don't need them here."

"Your family?" Aurora looked at me amused, her eyes full of wonder and some slight interest.

"I can explain it later, let's change to something more suitable…" she looked at me without saying anything, then nodded.

"I'll take a shower first…" Aurora went straight to her room, while I was left alone with my thoughts and feelings. First, it was hard finding suitable words to express my feelings to her, now it will take an eternity for me to explain my feelings to my family. However, it will not help us investigate why the police started that case and wanted to kill her, but it will help us to figure out more important things — what's between us and what should we do next.

One thing was clear. She will never be back to the police. She's mine.

~Aurora~

When I went out of the shower, I wrapped my body in a bath towel, combed my wet hair, and opened the door leading to my bedroom, went out closing the bathroom door. When I turned to the wardrobe, my eyes caught a pair of my new shoes standing near my bed and some red heart-shaped box on it.

"Markus is truly spoiling me…" I shook my head and went straight to the wardrobe and opened it. I took out a pair of new red organza lingerie, put it on me after removing the towel, then looked at the black ankle strap heels near my bed, and decided to put them on. Honestly, I don't know why I did that, but right at that moment, it was my biggest desire. After putting on the heels, I stood up and turned back to the bathroom to dry my hair out and to make some slight curls. When I already finished and was putting the makeup on me, I heard the sound of the opening and then closing the door. I knew who it was.

"I still need a few minutes…"

"No hurry…" I heard his velvet voice right behind my back, which made me flinch and turn back at him, "Markus, can you please not scare me like that?"

"Sorry," he said and coughed, "I didn't mean to."

His cough suddenly made me remember he's doing like that when he is embarrassed, so I turned back and looked in the mirror. That was a moment when I noticed a beautiful girl standing in her red organza lingerie and ankle strap heels with pretty makeup on her face. Her maroon curls were visible in the mirror, and with a combination of her organza lingerie, she was looking very seductive. What a pity, she had not even the slightest idea to cover her body and beauty!

"What a shame…" I said, then flinched again from his cold hands touching my lower belly. His cold plump lips kissed the back of my ear, throwing a current flowing through my body. I could feel his tongue licking my skin, leaving a wet track up from the back of my ear down to the mark from his fangs on my neck.

"If your beauty is a shame, I don't know then what a real shame is," he whispered in my ear, then slapped my butt and went out of the bathroom. I heard he opened the balcony and I know how hard it was for him to leave me just like that without going further, and I really regret I haven't put on the dress before. I promise to repeat that picture specifically for him when we'll have time.

And to not make him wait any longer, I finished my makeup and looked in the mirror closely. I haven't put as much as other girls would put on my place, I just don't like too much makeup: natural pale skin, long natural lashes with a bit of mascara making them more fluffy, dark red lipstick on my plump lips was right what I needed for now. I only added antique rose eyeshadows from "Pixi Natural Beauty Palette", which added a warm peach color to my makeup, and ran out of the bathroom to not add anything else and not spoil my natural look. Quickly opened the box on the bed and took the red silk high slit dress starting from the hip and with a heart-shaped plunging neckline. It made me almost drop my mouth. I cleared my throat again, so Markus turned around and looked at me. I quickly put that dress on to not tease him any more minutes, so he could come closer, observing me from head to toes.

"Looking gorgeous… as a mafia queen…" His lips twitched into a smirk, then he took a dark red rose out of nowhere and put it right into my hair on the left side near my ear. Then pinned it with some jewelry and pointed to the mirror. I turned and looked at myself from head to toes when I noticed the red rose was pinned with a silver hairpin that had something like a crown with bat wings decorated with small onyx stones. I looked at Markus, amused, but right at the same time, I felt something cold and elegant touching my neck, so I turned back to the mirror to see a silver chainlet with the same pendant as my hairpin. It was elegant and antique, and I felt like I took some family treasures out of my box. I turn at Markus.

"It's gorgeous, a family treasure?" I asked with a slight smile on my lips. I truly like it a lot. Markus just smiled and nodded with his head, then took the pendant in his cold fingers.

"The crown with bat wings is the Malone family crest, and the Eagle you could see on my ring is a family symbol. To be rich as a king, to be free as a bat, and to have sharp eyesight on everything as an eagle is our family credo." Markus explained to me, then looked at his ring. "All males in the family wear rings while all females wear pendants. No woman from my surrounding ever wore that pendant on her neck before you."

His words made my cheeks blush and my heart go on a race again. I looked down at my pendant, at his ring, then kissed his lips and wrapped his neck with my arms.

He hugged my waist and kissed me back when we heard knocking at the door to his bedroom being in front of mine, and the loud voice outside.

"Markus, you know I wouldn't come here without your order if it wasn't urgent. Your family just came…" said Raphael, calmly waiting for Markus's answer, so he broke off our kiss and took my hand.

"Ready?"

"If you are, I'm ready too…" I smiled at him, so he slightly smiled back, then squeezed my hand and led me to the door, then to the corridor. Raphael turned to us, but he wasn't looking amused.

"Next time, I'll knock to both doors…" he left his spicy comment, then looked at us from head to toes, "You two are looking good together. They'll not leave you alone after answering all their questions."

"You know what to do…" Markus said calmly without any further explanation, then squeezed my hand and led me to the elevator. Raphael followed us, remaining silent.

"It will take an Eternity to explain to you my relationships with my family, even longer than it took me to explain mine to you." Markus said when we were already in the elevator coming down. "But we don't have an eternity, for now, so the only thing I can say, my relationships with my family are very complicated. And what's more important, I hate unexpected and unscheduled visits, and I treat such guests properly."

I just squeezed his hand to gave him all my support, and he kissed my ear when the doors of the elevator opened.

"No matter what I do or say… just stay on my side," he asked before we went outside the elevator, then straight to the staircase and froze on the first step. It was three vampires downstairs, which I understood by their heartbeats not being heard. Markus moved his hand to my waist, pressing me tightly to himself, and we slowly went downstairs, hearing the rustling sound of the skirt of my red silk dress following us. No one said even one word until we stopped on the last step, which was separating us from Markus's family. The first one whom I noticed was a girl with platinum long hair and deep onyx eyes. She was as tall as me, but if I didn't know she's a vampire, I'd say she's even younger than me. Her straight hair was falling down her thin and bare shoulders, emphasizing her thin nature. She looked at Markus shortly, then moved her eyes to me, down to his hand on my waist, smirked, then lowered her eyes to my shoes. Smirk was still on her lips, but she hasn't said even a word.
