Chapter 13 - Resign from job

Arthur had dinner with an important client at a family restaurant. It was a request from the client who really liked the restaurant. The family restaurant had a VIP room in case he needed a more private room. Actually, Arthur didn't really care where it was, as long as the work got done quickly and he could do whatever he wanted.

"I think this is enough. I will rely on you a lot, Mr. Jefferson," said Jacob, one of the investors in Arthur's IT company. A man not far from him in age and quite easy to do business with. An easy target that Arthur was very fond of.

Arthur smiled sweetly. He extended his hand in an attempt to shake hands. "Don't worry, you'll be satisfied."

After that, they decided to go home. Arthur took permission to go to the restroom and let Jacob go first. He also told Juan, his secretary to escort Jacob to the restaurant lobby. Arthur finished his business and then washed his hands at the sink. As he picked up his phone to call Juan, he realized his other phone was missing. Arthur frowned in surprise, trying to find one of his cell phones again.

But still. He couldn't find it. In his coat pocket, in his pants, nothing at all. Arthur recalled his thoughts, intending to return to the private room they had previously occupied. However, he forgot exactly where the room was. Finally, with his vague memory, he began to guess where the room he had previously entered was. Arthur had also been looking around for a servant to get help. However, not a single waiter or waitress passed by.

"Looks like this room," Arthur muttered as he looked at the door that was not much different from the other doors. Without hesitating to open the door, his gaze fell flat when he saw a couple making out. He couldn't see the woman's face clearly, but he didn't care because it was none of his business. Arthur didn't want to disturb someone who was overcome with lust, so he closed the door carefully without making a sound.

"Let me go!"

Arthur stopped his hand after hearing a voice that didn't sound like a moan but thrashed with distaste. Arthur was well aware of the types of sounds when making out. And the woman's voice was not one of them. As the man watched the couple, it seemed he had guessed wrong.

They were not lovers. From the uniform, it was the uniform of a waitress in this restaurant and ... Arthur's eyes rounded when he saw the face of the woman he knew so well. Unconsciously clenching his hands tightly, he walked over to them and immediately pushed the back of the jerk who had abused Kalea with his foot.

Yes, that woman was Kalea. His sugar baby.

"Huh? Who the fuck are you-"

Arthur did not allow the mustachioed man to utter a single word out of that despicable mouth. He continued to stomp on the man until he was helpless. Arthur's breath caught in his throat, he was still not satisfied with finishing him off. His eyes flashed with hatred, he wanted to stomp on the man's neck but Kalea pushed her away.

"That's enough!"

He felt unacceptable when he saw the girl's clothes in disarray, the color of her lipstick faded. Kalea pulled his arm to get out of the room. Arthur could feel Kalea's trembling hands. He knew that she was trying to look okay. Once she felt safe, Kalea let go of Arthur's hand and turned to face him.

"What are you doing and why are you here?" Kalea asked, which made Arthur even more upset.

"Huh? Out of all the thank yous, that's the one that came out of your mouth? And I should have asked you that!" Arthur retorted, looking furious.

"I ... that ...," Kalea was unable to explain anything because of the fear that still overcame her. Her body trembled, her eyes began to tear up. Of course she was very grateful to Arthur for helping her. She didn't even expect him to come. Tears began to fall down her cheeks. "Thank you ... Arthur," Kalea whispered, and she collapsed to the floor because her legs were too weak.

Arthur looked at the girl. His temper still hadn't dropped. The man with a mole under his eye now squatted in front of Kalea. "Why are you there? Who is he?"

"M-my boss," Kalea replied softly. She continued to wipe her lips that were being harassed by John. Disgusted, very disgusted. Kalea never thought that her manager would abuse her just like those jerk customers.

"Quit this job," Arthur's final made Kalea open her eyes. She looked up at him.

"Wh-why?"

"Are you still asking? What you're going through won't just happen once! He's your boss, right? The one who's supposed to protect you but harasses you instead," Arthur retorted with a frivolous smile. The man helped Kalea up. "I'll take you home."

"But, I-"

"You still want to work at a time like this? Listen to me, Kalea, I'm really, really mad right now. You better not argue."

Kalea got a little chill on Arthur's face at this point. The man really wasn't messing around with his words. No matter what people saw, Kalea kept her head down and let Arthur lead her to the car. The girl was a little surprised to see a man sitting in the passenger seat, as well as the man.

"Arthur, who is-"

"Juan, you can take a taxi home," Arthur said as he dragged his secretary out of the car.

"Wh-what?!" screeched Juan even more incomprehensibly. "Wait, I've been waiting for you, but suddenly you bring a woman?!" Juan was well aware of his boss's habits, it wasn't just once or twice that Arthur acted arbitrarily. However, compared to the women he had seen, the woman Arthur was currently carrying still looked childish.

"I'll explain later. Here, I'll give you the fare," Arthur said as he gave money to the secretary he had come to think of as his own brother. "Be careful on the road, Juan."

Juan could only stare in disbelief as Arthur drove off and literally left him there alone. "Patience, Juan. You have to be patient with that maniacal womanizer."

"Arthur, why did he have to be dropped off? I feel bad," Kalea said even looking back.

"You don't need to think about it. That's normal for him," Arthur said very casually. Kalea frowned when he pulled the car to the side of the road. She was a little afraid that Arthur might want to continue the conversation. And sure enough, Arthur was now looking at Kalea deeply, a look in his gray eyes that seemed to hypnotize anyone who returned his gaze.

"Answer me, how many times have you experienced something like that?" Arthur asked.

Kalea bit her lower lip and looked down. "This is the first time by him ...."

"By him? Who else has been harassing you?! Another worker?" Arthur continued to ask.

"No! My friends are very nice. They don't do that ...."

"Then who?"

"Some ... customers," Kalea replied in a stifled tone. She could hear Arthur's heavy breathing.

"And you still want to work there? I told you the last time we talked, I wanted you to resign. And now this is what you get," Arthur grumbled.

"Because I couldn't afford the penalty before! If I resign, I have to pay it. I'm tormented too, Arthur. Please don't keep nagging me," Kalea whimpered, doing her best not to cry in front of him.

Arthur's heart softened, he immediately took Kalea into his arms. Apologizing repeatedly for making the girl even more depressed. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that. I'm upset with myself for not realizing sooner that it was you that that bastard was touching," Arthur said as he kissed the top of Kalea's head. The girl began to regain her composure, even though her relationship with Arthur was not one that was viewed favorably by those around her. However, Kalea felt safe when she was by his side.

"Why were you there?" asked Kalea, genuinely curious.

"I did have dinner at that restaurant. And I left my phone behind but I forgot where I left it," Arthur replied, even forgetting his original purpose.

"Did you find the phone?"

Arthur shook his head. "I don't care anymore, it's just one phone and it's worthless."

"How can you talk like that in front of a poor girl like me," Kalea said with an annoyed frown, making Arthur feel even more guilty.

"That's not what I meant! I only had your contacts on that phone, so I kept looking for it. Since you're with me now, I don't need to care about anything else," Arthur explained so Kalea wouldn't misunderstand.

Kalea felt like butterflies were flying in her stomach after hearing the man's explanation. She knew Arthur was a sweet-talking guy, but she couldn't help but feel a little happy.

"Back to the topic. How much do you have to pay for the penalty? Is my money not enough?" Arthur asked.

"M-More than enough ... but, the manager said he would raise my salary. I've been asking him for a long time, but this is the first time he wanted to grant that request," Kalea replied, explaining the initial chronology. "But as it turns out, he also wanted to ask something of me. My salary would be raised if I agreed to sleep with him."

"What? Sleep with you? I haven't even done that yet! You bastard manager ...," Arthur cursed, making Kalea a little surprised. "Ah ... sorry, and then?"

"That's why I tried to resist until you came to help," she continued.

"Tomorrow you resign from that old man. Let me pay the penalty," Arthur broke off and was already inviolable.

"That's okay, Arthur. I'll pay, I don't want to make you-" Kalea couldn't continue when Arthur kissed her lips unceremoniously.

"I hate it the most when I keep getting rebuttals. I'm not bothered either," Arthur interrupted, his gaze so serious it made Kalea's heart beat faster.

Kalea held her breath even more as Arthur continued to look at her while rubbing his lips. "I guess I'll have to keep kissing you to make your asshole manager's marks go away."

"Wh-what?"

Arthur really wasn't messing around. He continued to kiss the girl's luscious lips and occasionally biting them. The man did not let Kalea take the oxygen supply. However, Kalea loved it.
