Chapter 13 - To live a good life

With heart beating loudly against his chest, Chunhee opened his lips, "A-About our engagement…" What? What did he want to ask Yujin about it? Should he beg now to call it off to save everyone from the trouble? If he did, would Yujin truly help him? Yujin didn't like him now, not even a bit. But he fairly treated everyone with a fair judgment. Plus, Chunhee was his childhood friend. He would understand… Maybe he would understand…

"One more thing," Yujin suddenly said, stopping Chunhee's thoughts.

Chunhee watched as Yujin slowly turned around, facing him as held Chunhee's hand – with force as he might – and harshly removed it from his uniform.

Then Yujin looked into Chunhee's eyes and uttered in a cold and merciless tone as he had always been, "I don't care whether you approve about this engagement or not but don't be too gullible about it. If you think this is all about affections or whatever reason you think it is for, then it's stupid. Also, I would prefer it if you don't show any intimate actions towards me…"

"Then, should we just break it off? Why don't we just break off this engagement so we can both save ourselves from this ridiculous setup? Don't you even know what will happen to me in the future?" Chunhee wanted to ask back. He really did but for some reason, all of it got stuck in his mouth. The moment Yujin uttered such heartless words, Chunhee felt his own heart was being ripped into pieces and his mind went blank. He couldn't even utter any word or move one bit. He just knew, deep down inside, he was breaking and it seemed to be an endless one.

Slowly, he watched as Yujin turn around and left.

These feelings… They were owned by the original sixth Chunhee, weren't they?

While walking down the hallway of the school, Chunhee began to think about his life carefully. Although he didn't cry, he felt the tremendous pain in his heart as he listened to Yujin's words that time. He couldn't help but feel bad for the past him – the past six versions of him.

In every life, the same heart beat for the same person. Every time, "Chunhee" experienced the same thorny path, pain, and miserable death. And for the sixth Chunhee, most especially, he was betrayed and he even took his life because of that pain.

Chunhee stopped by the window, eyes looking over the different scenes outside. The school grounds were full of students, laughing with their friends as they walked, conversed, and played. Just one look and one would think – they were surely living their lives to the fullest and at the moment, without worrying about the future, without feeling intense fear or anxiety.

The sixth Chunhee surely experienced that before too. He had lived a good high school life with his friends and a love interest that inspired him through and through. Yet, 4 to 5 years later, he had taken his own life. All because of the same person that inspired him.

One could only imagine how much pain Chunhee truly had felt before he came to that decision himself.

Chunhee looked down at his hands. He wasn't the sixth Chunhee. He was a new Chunhee – the unconscious and the one who knew his past lives and his own future.

In this life, he could have the same path and die – or he could change the course of events and live.

Yujin – the killer of every Chunhee that existed – as it turned out, he was still merciless and heartless as ever. He wasn't someone who could be easily talked to.

He would never step forward and offer his hand.

No one would.

"Forget it," Chunhee muttered to himself. He left the window as he walked straight forward.

If no one would help him in this life, then he would do everything by himself.

He would make sure to bring justice to all the past Chunhees. No matter what happened, he would make sure to live a good life in this sixth life!

"Chunhee!"

Chunhee turned to his right and saw Daehyun, Youngjae, and Jinho. Right, he still had these three people. One of them might betray him someday, that, or it was an entirely different person. Chunhee would surely had to find out. The sixth Chunhee died not only because of Yujin but also because he was betrayed by his close friend. To be able to catch that person and stop him from doing anything that could ruin Chunhee's life later - it would serve as justice for the sixth Chunhee.

"Should we eat outside? I heard there's a new shop near that mall we went last time," Daehyun said with a bright smile.

Chunhee looked back at his friends - the sixth Chunhee's friends and also the past Chunhees' friends. Right. Each and everyone in this life all had appeared back then too. Only, Chunhee couldn't remember what roles or relationships they had. He only knew, deep inside, he had seen and lived with them too.

"I want some ice cream," Chunhee said.

"That's a bit childish but all right," Daehyun commented as Jinho stepped in between and placed his arms around his friends.

"Stop talking and let's go!"

Slowly, Chunhee revealed a smile. Well, whatever. No matter the role or relationship these people partake in his and Yujin's lives, he would have to learn them all over again now.

He just wished it wouldn't be as painful later on once he knew the truth.
