Chapter 8 - Merry and Cole

She was rather more confused with all that information which she possibly couldn't fathom.

Scared that anyone would notice her, she tiptoed similarly as before and slowly laid down on her bed covering her body with the blanket.

Even after laying down for about an hour or so she couldn't fall asleep.

She closed her eyes and continuously thought about this whole ridiculous situation and her chances of escaping.

Her thoughts reached as far as if she had powers what kind of powers she would had and so on. In conclusion, she didn't sleep well that night.

The very next morning, she talked to that boy about her possibility to have powers similar to him.

"Yes, it could be. I think we need to test." The boy suggested.

"What do we test?"

"Like strength, speed and reflexes. We can do that here."

They decided to slowly test and observe her potential. Even after a week or so, testing on lifting heavy things and speed, nothing showed any difference than a normal human.

They also tried her reflexes but to their no luck, it was all in vain.

A few days passed and she was getting quite along with that boy. They even decided to give each other names as it was hard to call each other without having names.

They both thought what to call each other and gave themselves one or two days to finalize it.

And at last she decided to call him 'Cole' and he decided to call her 'Merry' and when he asked her what was the reason or meaning behind his name, the answer he got made him speechless.

She had thought a lot what to call him but no matter what the name 'Cole' would always keep coming on her mind.

"What!, then my name doesn't have any meaning behind it. So upsetting!", he said jokingly and told her that even though she didn't pick his name carefully, he had done it.

He hopes that just like the name he gave her 'Merry' she would be able to find her joy and happiness in life.

It was quite ironic for them to be in that situation and him giving her such name and wishing her to be joyful and happy in life.

Without being able to remember what had happened to her before, it was hard for her to trust anyone but she slowly started to trust Cole.

She also stopped taking those pills.

It was still awkward to call him by his name. She was getting used to it as they became friends and started to talk more often.

He also exchanged his bed with the person next to her in hope that they will be able to talk at night without the guards finding out.

In this way, a few more weeks passed but nothing else happened other than they were taken for tests a few times.

Only simple blood tests were taken some day, while other days ultrasound or MRI scans or X-rays were taken.

She didn't know if all of them were being tested the same or was she alone taking those tests as they were taken out of the room individually.

When she asked Cole about those tests he had said he took only a blood test one time in those past days and other tests were physical like his strength, speed, reflexes some days and cognitive tests the other days.
