Chapter 15 - Together In The Pool

Annalise wanted to curse herself. Exactly what was wrong with her? How could she speak so much nonsense without thinking straight was beyond her imagination.

At this point, she was just asking for trouble by letting her body, heart, and mouth run around without any restrictions or breaks.

"My apology, My Lord. I didn't mean to..." Annalise hurriedly tried to cover her stupidity but was silenced by a pair of lips that suddenly stole her first kiss.

It ended just as soon as it started, barely giving her any chance to react or even properly experience her first kiss. It was just a soft brush of his lips against hers but it still managed to make sparks erupt all over her body.

Annalise stared wide-eyed at the man who had just kissed her, his eyes turning a darker shade of crimson as he gazed back at her with a whirlpool of various emotions in his eyes.

"Welcome home, wife." Lord Damien whispered in a barely audible voice but she still managed to hear every single word pretty clearly.

The two of them continued to gaze into each other's eyes and while Annalise was busy wrapping her mind around the fact that she had just been kissed by one of her husbands for the very first time, Lord Damien appeared to be transfixed as he kept gazing at her.

Annalise's breathing became sharp when she felt his hand coming to rest against her cheek before he pushed his fingers into her hair, causing her to stop breathing as she anticipated his next move.

She should be running away, putting as much distance between herself and the man as possible. Even though he's her husband, she barely knew him. Should she really be allowing a stranger to come so close to her?

But any kind of reasoning was of no use at the moment because even if she wanted to move away, her body refused to listen to any sort of reasoning. Her traitorous mind was waiting impatiently for his next move and her stupid heart was jumping in her chest as if it was ready to pop out at any moment.

It seemed like she couldn't even trust herself when she was around her husbands. Her body, mind, and soul seemed to have their own plans when it came to the three Dark Lords.

A gasp escaped her lips when Lord Damien suddenly jumped into the pool, making water splash in every direction.

His tall frame towered over her as he closed the distance between them and only stopped a breath away from where Annalise had pushed herself against the pool wall.

Her eyes ran over his muscular body and she realized that he was only wearing a simple black cloak and trousers, and the front of the cloak was left open for her eyes to take in his muscular chest and abdomen.

"Should I appreciate the way your beautiful eyes are taking me in?" Lord Damien whispered in a teasing tone as he placed his hands against the wall behind her, caging her between himself and the wall.

Annalise craned her neck to look at him and once again found herself gazing into his beautiful but also deadly eyes. Whatever she was going to say completely escaped her mind and she just ended up staring at him like a fool.

"I have never seen... someone so beautiful..." The words were low, his voice utterly calm unlike the inferno soaring inside Annalise.

She shivered as tingles erupted all over her body when she again felt his fingers sliding into her hair.

His touch was so gentle, unlike his appearance. Annalise found herself closing her eyes as she couldn't resist the sweetness of his touch.

"I just wanted to take a look at you. I thought I can resist you, unlike my brothers..." The words were a breath against her lips, the warmth of his body engulfing her in a cacoon. "... But I was never so wrong in my entire life."

Annalise wasn't sure how she should react to his confession and even if she knew, she wondered if she could focus on anything else other than his closeness.

She felt his nose brushing against hers, his fingers sliding deeper into her hair, his lips trailing over her cheek. His gentle caresses were setting off a flurry of butterflies in her abdomen, a direct conflict with the warning sound that kept telling her she should move away from him.

The man was a stranger to her. Except for his name, she knew nothing about him. But that meek voice of reason was buried deep in the back of her mind as every single cell in her body started focusing on 'him'.

She felt his lips trailing down her jawline and then moving to her throat, causing her pulse to soar in response. He wasn't kissing her, it was just a brush of his lips against her skin but even that was enough to build an unknown fire inside her.

She felt his other hand making its way down her arm before it reached her palm and he entangled their fingers together while his lips finally placed a soft kiss against her throat, causing a small gasp to escape her mouth.

A weird sensation took over Annalise, like some sort of sizzling energy that was connecting her with him, and it kept growing powerful with each passing moment.

Her eyes fluttered open when she heard him groaning softly against her throat. He buried his face into the crook of her neck for a few seconds before he completely pulled away.

Annalise couldn't deny that she missed his warmth the very moment he stepped away. Something inside her kept urging her to close the distance that he had created between them but thankfully, she succeeded in keeping herself in place.

She noticed his eyes turning darker once again as he gazed at her, there was a new emotion flickering in his orbs but she couldn't pinpoint exactly what it was.

"It's getting late. You should return to your room, Princess."
