Annalise stared at the huge wooden door in front of her. She had been standing there, unmoving, for a while and she had next to no clue exactly how she ended up on the topmost floor of the castle. She just wanted to get away from everyone for a while and somehow, her instincts took her to this particular place.
She raised one of her hands and placed it against the cold wood carved with several intricate designs most of which made no sense to her. She didn't even plan to do it but her powers suddenly surfaced and a force of energy pushed out of her palm and stretched across the entire door.
Snatching her hand back in shock, she hurriedly stepped back a little bit while staring at her powers taking down the spell that was cast on the door before the door flew open and she was given entrance into the room on the other side.
