Coming out of the shower, Lu Qiao Yan picked up the brown file placed on his bedside and opened it. He found some pictures of Jian Yu.
Sighing heavily, he picked up his phone and dialed a number.
As the person on the other side picked up the call, Lu Qiao Yan said, ''I already told you. Stop following Jian Yu, and don't send me these photos anymore''.
''I got in big trouble because of you master''. The man on the other side said.
''But I bribed the police and got you out of there. Now, what else do you want?'' Lu Qiao Yan was angry.
''Master, I can't bear to see young master Jian Yu fooling around. He's all yours's''. It was the man, Alaric Genghis, who was once arrested by the police for stalking Hui Jian Yu.
Lu Qiao Yan sighed, ''I don't know what world you are living in. But I am warning you to stay out of our business''.
He continued, ''Your job is complete. The money would be soon wired into your account''.
Lu Qiao Yan placed his phone aside. Looking through the pictures, he thought. ''Armor, clubbing, drinking, racing. What else are you hiding from me, Hui Jian Yu?''
''I can't let this go on''. He said. Switching off the lights, he drifted to sleep.
One week ago...
Lu Qiao Yan came back to his home country. He had left the country after graduating because of his father's vast business.
Coming from an old money family his great-great-grandfather had a title similar to a Lord or Knife… so his mother was a Lady and owned several great pieces of land in China. His dad was a Chinese high-ranging ambassador in Europe… They commonly traded ambassadors around every few years.
Being the elder son of Lu Xia Mu, he was using his father's last name 'Lu' because that's how the inheriting line could be passed on his both father's and mother's side of the family.
His family was among the high-profile society. He had a good name, a titled mother, a powerful father, was well-mannered, had money, looks, and a great reputation last name among the old money.
Lu Qiao Yan's grandfather engaged Qiao Yan to Hui Deming's child even before Hui Deming was married because he wanted to be connected with the Hui's even closer… he genuinely loved the Hui's because the two families were relatives and when Hui Deming stepped into the business world at a young age and firmly setup everything.
When Hui Jian Yu was born as a boy, Lu Qiao Yan's grandfather wanted to keep the engagement regardless. He loved and trusted Hui Deming and his family… they made a 'heart' commitment. His gut told him that Jian Yu was the one for Qiao Yan.
After returning, Lu Qiao Yan was first confronted with the problem brought up by his younger brother Lu Xiao Xan. Lu Xiao Xan was such a troublemaker, a spoiled brat and Lu Qiao Yan knew it was his brother's fault no matter what.
Mr. Lu Xia Mu called up Mr. Hui Deming before to get Lu Xiao Xan out of the police station but Hui Deming was unable to do anything so Lu Qiao Yan hired a lawyer and got Lu Xiao Xan's bail.
This infuriated Lu Xiao Xan and he didn't come back home nor he visited Mr. Hui Deming when they were invited for dinner at the Hui's.
Lu Qiao Yan accepted the invitation for dinner as he hoped to meet Jian Yu as well. He was worried about him.
According to Lu Qiao Yan, Hui Jian Yu was a very fragile and innocent young boy whereas his younger brother, Lu Xiao Xan was very hard and a thug boy who stirred up a lot of trouble for the family.
Li Daiyu and Hui Deming welcomed him warmly and they were happy to see him. Hui Fen was very young when he left and he was happy to meet her.
Lu Qiao Yan sincerely apologized because of his brother's attitude and he wished to meet Jian Yu to talk with him as well.
Li Daiyu informed him that Jian Yu left in the evening because he had to attend a school reunion party. This angered Hui Deming because Jian Yu was ordered to stay home for dinner.
Li Daiyu and Lu Qiao Yan tried to defend and cover up for Jian Yu as they both were aware of Hui Deming's temper.
''Aunt Li! How's Jian Yu doing these days?'' Lu Qiao Yan asked Li Daiyu when Mr. Hui Deming got a business call and he excused them.
Li Daiyu sighed as she shook her head. ''Jian Yu has started avoiding everyone at home since his senior year in school and you know that as well''.
Lu Qiao Yan nodded his head quietly.
''He has distanced himself so much that we can't figure out what's going on in his life. I always try my best to make him stay at home, have meals with us, and enjoy family get-togethers but he makes excuses and runs away''. Li Daiyu explained Jian Yu's state to Lu Qiao Yan.
''I see!'' Lu Qiao Yan thought something and then got up.
''I will take my leave now''.
With formal pleasantries, he left the Hui mansion and came back home. Since then, he tried to contact Jian Yu but couldn't reach him and his heavy schedule was pressing him down.
