Now the problem is, how should he smoke out this demon spirit? It was obvious she wouldn't reveal herself unless she was forced to. Will she stay down and go silent? Or will she endanger the life of the child she possessed? Lucien contemplated deeply as he scrutinized the six children. Surely it wasn't the little protagonist who was possessed, right? After second thoughts, he dismissed the idea. The protagonist has the blood of demon in his veins. It made him immune to the demon's magic, especially possession and control. He also wield dark magic.
Lucien studied the little girl. Could it be her? She was a girl. Vanessa's daughter is a woman. She might have an inclination for a girl of weak demeanor. This little girl easily attracts demons with ill intention, making the chances of her being possessed higher than the others. As Lucien studied her, he did not notice he was caught by Aiden. When Lucien finally felt the overwhelming pressure of a certain someone's gaze, he removed his eyes from the girl.
Aiden is standing not far away from the girl. His hands are busy swaying the little boy in the swing. Lucien remembered this little guy. He was the one who got injured last night. Could it be him? As he studied closely, Lucien noticed that the boy is a bit plumper than the others. A contrast to his sorry appearance that is too pitiful to look at last night. With all that crying and sobbing and emaciated poor boy's look, Lucien can't help but panic.
No. Lucien slapped his forehead.
The fuck?! What was I thinking? Compared to the injured boy, I am more likely to be possessed right now. I was thrown to a wall, clawed until my flesh came off, bled until I lost consciousness... And worst of all, I became a zombie all you can eat raw meat.
The fuck?!
The fact that he was still alive fed his doubts that he was possessed. Let's test it. Lucien looked around his room but stopped when he realized he didn't know what kind of testing tool he should use.
Wait, was there such a thing?
Lucien groaned and could only go back to the window to gaze at the children. Betting against his worst luck in guessing who's more likely to be the victim of possession. At the back of his mind, something seemed to have been missed, like he was forgetting a very important thing. But no matter how much he ponder about it, he can't bring that important matter out into the open.
Lucien can only growl in frustration. This must be the effect of being made as a zombie feast. His brain sustain permanent damage!
Outside the courtyard, he did not notice Aiden had already left the children alone. He entrusted the pushing of the swing to the other boy and raced back to the house. Lucien's eyes narrowed when he noticed Aiden was no longer there.
Wait, where did the little protagonist go?
At the first floor, he heard the fast thumping of footsteps climbing the stairs. Outside of his room, under the crack of his door, he saw a shadow standing behind it. Then a knock sounded. Lucien was about to stand up to welcome the guest when the door suddenly opened. He was surprised to see the little protagonist slightly out of breath.
"What are you doing here?" Lucien asked. Aiden did not respond. He just walked over with an unreadable expression.
Lucien found a chair for himself and had been sitting on it before Aiden arrived. Now that he's here, Lucien is not used to seeing the little protagonist staring down at him with clouded eyes.
"Is there something wrong?"
Aiden's mouth slightly slacked, still not saying anything. He just stared at Lucien as if he had offended him. Lucien was confused. What did he do?
"You said you were going to sleep." He said grudgingly. "You lied."
"Eh?"
This is the first time Lucien met someone who takes his words seriously, to the point where the other person makes it seem as if someone betrayed him. How cute! The little protagonist is too cute and adorable I cant !- Lucien stopped the urge to laugh and get up from his seat.
"Then I'm going to sleep now." He headed back to his bed and climbed up the upper deck. The moment he was about to cover himself with a blanket, Aiden climbed beside him. He frowned.
"This is my bed. Yours is -"
"I want to sleep with you." Aiden cut him off. His big watery eyes stared innocently at Lucien. As if saying, 'You owe me this favor because you lied to me'. When Aiden blinked and stared intently at him, Lucien's heart skipped a beat.
'Let me sleep with you, pretty please~' Aiden's eyes seemed to say.
How could Lucien refuse!
This great lord with his protagonist halo... *sob* He's so cute. Lucien finally resigned and pulled Aiden closer to prevent him falling.
"Good thing the bed has extra space." Aiden's soft flaxen hair accidentally rubbed Lucien. His facial muscles instantly twitch. He wants to laugh, but his facial expression is too stiff for him to control. Besides, he wasn't used to laughing.
He can't remember the last time he laughed.
As Lucien stared absentmindedly, Aiden made use of this opportunity and cuddled up to Lucien's chest. His body is warm, alive, clean, and emitting a faint fragrance of soap. Aiden can finally breath in peace.
This person is alive.
He did not die.
Aiden tried to bury the image of him being eaten alive, but couldn't. It continued to haunt him for hours. Even when Lucien is standing right beside him, he can't be assured. He must touch his skin. He must wrap his arms around his waist. He must feel his warmth. He must hear his heartbeat. He can't calm down if he can't see and touch this person. An image suddenly sprang into Aiden's mind. The scene of bodies suddenly erupting in a black cloud of dust. The picture of that witch as her eyes, ears and nose tear up in black liquid until she disintegrated into dust.
He knows it. He was weird. And he killed them all.
